The only adjustment I felt CMA should have made was picking Fox up on the inbound and making him work to get the ball down the floor. The Hall of Famer Gary Payton said that he likes Patrick Beverley because he plays defense on point guards the whole 94 feet. You got to make a guard like Fox turn three or four times before he get across half court. Shorten the shot clock and make Kentucky take a hurry up shot.

you have to have a guy who can do that. I don't think we do

Fox is the fastest player with the ball since John Wall and not a great shooter guarding him tight outside of 15 feet is counter productive.

Correct about the not being a great shooter, but you do have to pick him up and disrupt his drives.  His game is getting into the paint and breaking down the defense.  Pick him up early and keep him from driving.  I don't know that we have anybody who could stick with Fox like that.

Bad idea, not many teams have anyone that is going to stay with Fox for 94 feet. That kid has elite level speed and quickness.

PonderinHog

The best thing we could have done to slow down Fox was to make more of our shots.

In my day (18-35) I could have done that and your saying we don't have a 3-4 star recruit that can...geez!

So in your day, you could stop a player of Fox's caliber?  Where did you play?

It wasn't that I was a great player but I was fast and could guard people.  Once he got close he would have got off his shot.  The point is he wouldn't have been draining them for the whole game.  One or both of us would have been dead on our feet.

Where did you play?  Surely someone who can shut down a 1st rder on the regular played at the highest level.

Not just  a 1st rounder-- the guy is a legit threat to be a top 3 pick.

You don't just roll out players who can do that.     Fox makes a lot of people look bad-- ask the all-star roster at North Carolina how they felt about Fox getting to the rim at-will against their 5 stars, to make Monk's big shooting/scoring night possible.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

You don't pick up a player like Fox 94 feet out.  He is tok quick and good with the ball. You make your shots get back on d and pack the lane.  Kentucky's offense is based off of his abiltiy to drive and dish.  Monk hits threes off of Fox's dribble drive. Briscoe drives off of it.  If the Hogs going cold caused long rebounds, run outs, not being able to setup on defense and let Fox run.

I don't think you pick him up 94 ft, but surely at half court.  Would have been easier if we'd made more shots in the second half.

LR_Matt

Pick Fox up anywhere past half court and you're playing 4 on 5 and your PG is now chasing him.... that's why MA didn't press them.
