We will be in SW Texas for 3 days !
If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.
-- Major General Patrick Cleburne
The Confederacy had no better soldiers
than the Arkansans--fearless, brave, and oftentimes courageous beyond
prudence. Dickart History of Kershaws Brigade.

I grew up in Pine Bluff with Jeff Smith who lives in Ft Davis. He is a renowned stained glass artisan who has works all over the country. I suspect the beauty and solitude is part of his inspiration. Don't know if he has tours of his studio but he is a fun guy and I bet he would share a beer with you! Google "Jeff Smith & Architectural Stained Glass, Inc".

Never did find that Pine Bluff boy but it was in the 80's most days and in the 60's at night.

We stayed in the lodge at 90 bucks a night.

I've been wanting to go to the Davis Mountains for a long time so any advice or cautions would be nice.  Any safety issues?

DeltaBoy

None that I saw your far enough from the Border to avoid the check points and such. It was a very laid back and relaxing trip.
