According to crack research of the great Robert Cessna, A&M (26.5 vs. Alabama) has only been bigger underdog at home once (OU 27.5 2008).

What happened with Alabama's offense in win at Texas A&M

QuoteSecond halves have been formalities in recent weeks for Alabama.

Games were over long before halftime. That dominance didn't travel.

Sure, the top-ranked team beat Texas A&M 27-19, but it didn't have that smooth touch from the Vanderbilt and Ole Miss routs.

This was a team outscoring opponents 76-6 in the first quarters before taking just a 7-3 edge to the second Saturday.

The nation's ninth-best scoring offense went touchdown-free on five of the first six possessions. Three of the first four drives went three-and-out. Damien Harris' one-play, 75-yard touchdown was the only real slice of momentum Alabama could take from the opening quarter. It netted just eight yards on the other 10 snaps.

Rhythm was lacking for an Alabama offense that hit 600-yards easily the last two weeks.

"We're getting too much pressure in the pocket," Nick Saban said at halftime. "We busted a couple of big runs. We made a couple of explosive plays. Consistency in running the ball and protecting the quarterback is not what it needs to be."

This is NOT the type thing we needed now with all our many problems. I can promise you that as highly unlikely as it ever was that we were going to give the Tide a decent game, after last night's "debacle" in College Station ole Nick will be fuming and will turn up the heat on the team this coming week during practice. Heck, they didn't totally steamroll the Aggies last night; that is unacceptable to Nick, staff and team. They finally turned the ball over and that is not going to cut it with Saban. They actually showed they're mortal at times. I can promise that will NOT be tolerated in TTown, not by the "god" that is Nick Saban. We WILL get their very best this coming week-and it will be a total Hog roast as a result.

Nick Saban: "This is a different A&M team. They learned something when they lost against UCLA."
