The Illini sure is not getting any bang for their buck are they? Interesting, 20 players on Rutgers are from Florida and it seems most of Tennesse are from out of state.

In Arkansas we also have basically one division 1 team.  Iowa must battle Iowa State and Oregon has to battle Oregon State for recruits.

good info JJ... how about putting the states population next to each one.. that might really open some eyes.

While you are at it factor in per capita income, and how many major metropolitan areas reside in that state.

Funny how many D1's flow from states such as Mississippi and Alabama considering how poor they are we are flanked on all sides with states packed full of talent.

Was this one year or an average of several years?
The first thing I heard today was that he grew up on a pig farm. That's quite a start in my book. And my last memory was watching him hang 70 on Nebraska. Just those two facts are enough (for me to like him). Then, I hear that he's out of the Hayden Fry-Bill Snyder-Barry Alvarez coaching tree. Oh, that's enough for me to like a lot. Then, I hear he's got a 27-year-old wife. Okay, we can stop. I like him.

We don't have a pipeline out of Texas either, it died with the SWC.  Is it any coincidence that the states in the top 10 signee production have won the last several NC's?

I didn't say we have one, I said we have an inherent pipeline.  I agree that we would recruit Texas better if we were still connected to them, but there is no reason we can't do alot better than we do.

Nebraska was consistently top 15 or better in the early part of the last 10 years.  Iowa has been during the latter part.  I already noted WVU, and where they are today.

None far as i know, also im sure a few hit the California coast schools like San Jose State, SDSU, etc

Conway Cool Daddy has nailed it about Hawaii. Hell, 20% of the USC traveling squad is Samoan (some of them from American Samoa. Middle linebacker at USC almost always is filled by a Samoan.

interesting Okla only with 26 yet 2 bcs conf schools and a CUSA program

Man look at the dropoff from Georgia to Penn. Recruits almost get cut in half. Also, it looks like per land area Florida has the best concentration of talent. Don't know how it would break down by population.

What is this stat supposed to show me?  Just by glancing at it all it proves is that more populated states have more players sign with DI schools?

20 per year for Arkansas sounds a little high to me, but since that would include ASU and any that drifted off to ULM etc., I guess maybe it's possible.

It wouldn't be hard to plug that into Excel along with the states population and come up with a per capita figure.  Or if you wanted to take the time to find out how many high school football teams each state has, you could come up with an interesting figure also.

I hope all the NUTT apologists see this stat....It is very telling... I guess it pretty much destroys the idea that we will never be able to compete with the big boys because of our InState recruitment is not like that of a Louisiana, or California.........Furthermore, I just thought of this..... These teams mentioned have played in a BCS bowl....

A side note.  Univ. of Tenn. only has 29 players from the state of Tenn on their entire roster.  If you looked at Louisville's roster, you'd see something very similiar.  As with the above mentioned teams.
