According to an article on Nascar.com it seems that Jamie will drive for Roush starting in 2007. I think this is a good choice by Jack Roush. There is no word on who will drive the car next year, but rumors are that Ricky Craven is a front runner.

I think he's a good driver, and he seems like a nice guy.  He just needs to lay off the hair gel a little bit.  Next year after Mark's gone, I'll be rooting for the 99 though.  Carl Edwards is the real deal.

pioneerhog

There is no doubt about it, McMurray WILL be driveing the 6 car in 2007. I do have to agree with Tech that I will be rooting the 99 and Edwards is the real deal.

I want to know where Phyzer will be taking the sponsorship. Don't see VIAGRA on the side of THAT CAR WITH THAT DRIVER in the seat....
Viagra has already said that they will not be sponsering the 6 car next season but they plan on keeping Martin on for promotional purposes. That could also be a possibility on their truck sponsership they are looking for, because it seems they like Martin and want to stay with him.

Isn't Mc Murray from Joplin? Kind of keeps a local tie to this area (NWA) going with the Number 6 car. Guess I will have to learn to pull for someone else in the 6 car. Hard to change after sucjh a long time. :'(

YOu think it is hard for you try being born and raised in Batesville. I just looked at his bio on his website and he is from Joplin. All in all I think he is a good choice for the 6 car, but I will probably cheer for the 99, I like Edwards and think he is going to be a good driver, But I will always hold a place for the 6 car and I will always cheer for it, but the driver of it may not always be my favorite.

hogsgrl09

i agree. but i aint rootin 4 the 99 next year. i cant stand him for some reason.  :puke:

mcmurry is one of those drivers who need a good team around him to settle him down and make him comfortable .this would be a great fit if they keep the v6 team together .

i've heard the buyout is a strong probility . martin doesn't appear to be intrested and money doesn't matter . a finish in the top 5 might change his mind though .

hogsgrl09

nah i doubt it. he already made up his mind about it and said this was his last year.

I look for one of these three thing to happen with the 6 car next season.

1. Roush buys out the rest of McMurray's contract and Jamie drives the 6 next season.

2. Martin goes ahead and runs the cup car next season instead of the trucks.

3. Roush's truck driver, Ricky Craven, will drive the 6 car next season and if he does well he might get a car in 07 or he will go back to the truck for Roush.

I got alot of Mark Valvoline stuff.......I won't wear his new sponsers stuff ....

Or Stroh's, not even sure they make that beer anymore. ;D
Here's a site with some of the old stuff.  I remember the 2 car, it was the number he had when he ran at Tristate in Fort Smith when I was a teeenager.

If the house I lived in as a kid hadn't burnt I would have had alot of Folgers stuff, even some old Stroh stuff, but I lost all that stuff when our house burnt when I was younger.

pioneerhog

I also had some of his Winn Dixie stuff but I couldn't tell you where it has went to. Here is another site with his old cars on it, sorry Porcine  but it is better than yours even though it is on the same site.  ;D

tophawg19

No offense taken. Billy Hunter was the man at Tristate before Mark came along with Phillips. BAck when it was asphalt. Think he must have been too much of a local phenom though as I don't recall him going to ASA from Tristate. Tristate was too sad the last time I went(about seven or eight years ago). Fights in the stands, fights in the pits, and pitiful racing even for dirt. Hopefully they have gotten their act together since, but it is still dirt. Too sad for a track that saw Bobby Allison run (once or twice) as well as Martin, Phil Parsons and of course Rusty Wallace.

A funny aside. When Mark was in Fort Smtih a few years back doing a promo thingy, one of the reporters asked him if he rememebered racing on the dirt at Tristate. He graciuosly replied "of course". Only problem was that he raced on asphalt at Tristate. The reporter was too wet behind the ears to know the fauxpas.WPS

I have forgotten about l Bobby Allison, I remember now he car was on display and they let me sat in it...at least I think it was his....it was babby blue...Also Billy Hunter wasn't king, at least not always...Tilly Evans and Chuck Knight also ruled.....Knight went on to race with the bigger boys and found out it took money...Also Bill Sanders was good, won all the time until he went threw the concrete wall....never good after that....Bill drove the blue and white #25

Doc Holiday

And yes I wish it were paved again too....At a magazine store in Fort Smith called Hot off the press, they have got some pictures of the old Tri-State when Rusty was there.....it looked liked nascar back then

PorcineSublime

I had forgotten about Chuck Knight, he was good as well. Think he came along later. Billy Hunter (Sr) was around before Mark and Rusty. Tilly was running at Tristate back before they paved it,and stayed a long time after many left. I think it was called Mighty Mouse (or Mighty Might?) race track back then. They would sometimes run figure eight races then. Tilly Evans was cool to me as little kid because he ran a 65 'stang. Great memories indeed. I could go on and get into the good old days at Crawford County Speedway as well, but I will stop there.

Billy Sr. was older than Chuck but they raced alot together....Chuck usually got the best of him. Chuck and Tilly are about the same age....I used to work with both of them....They both work at Trane. They drive so differently....Tilley- cool and smooth. Chuck- wild and crazy....he would pass on the outside all the time.....and yes it was called mighty mouse speedway....Tilly's Mom owned it at one time...Chuck, Tilly and Billy Hunter Sr. were all track champs at one time......
