Say the football team keeps heading the same direction that it is headed right now and at the end of the year Long fires Bielema. If Steve Sarkisian has a good year in Atlanta, do you think Long should make a run at him? If we could get him would you want him? I know the last time we pulled someone out of Atlanta it didn't end that well, but given how he did at Washington and USC (at least in the year that he was there) I think it'd be worth a shot. I don't see how hiring him would be more controversial that it was to hire Petrino given his past at the time. If it were to happen at least the game against Alabama would be fun for a couple years.

Hog N Bama

What do you think? Duh

Isn't Sark the one that is susceptible to pills and liquor.

Well, so was Eddie Sutton and he is still loved here. If Sark can win at a high level, give him a shot.

You mean "booger-eater" Sark?

If he can beat Bama and win SEC titles I wouldn't care if he ate a plate of doo doo dumplings.

Sark is a great recruiter but mediocre coach.  Now maybe that was due to his alcohol problem, I don't know.  I think he has way too much baggage for us to consider him.  Maybe in another 5 years and he has proved he has remained sober someone will give him another shot.

But he couldn't, remember? The only game he called as coordinator, he lost. If you lose with Bama talent, well.........

That would definitely complete our dysfunctional hat trick:

They threw him in unexpectedly at the last minute and he came within a hair of getting enough points. I actually thought that loss was more on the Bama defense in the second half.

Won't be seeing Sark on the Arkansas sidelines but the possibility in the stands is real.

How about Chizik?
only if he can buy Auburn level athletes like Cam

His substance issues aren't my issue with him. I think people can get clean. Not saying it's easy, but with the right help, it's possible.

What's impossible is a mediocre coach winning at Arkansas. And Sark is most definitely that.

Big difference in when Eddie was having problems and when this guy was having his.  The world has changed my friend the world has changed.  No desire to have his as HC even if he was sober for years.  Like some of the above posters I think he is average at best.

Not really.  A lousy drunk is a lousy drunk.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

SCREW Vandy!

His time in Seattle coaching for UW, wasn't pretty.  Aside from the stories that made the press, there were a few more incidents.  I know a very involved booster for UW and the stories he could tell.

Of course, Sark might've cleaned up his act in the time since but goodness...it would be quite a risk

MushroomCloudHog

I'd take Kevin Kelly over Booger

husker71

when Sutton coached here he wasnt followed by everybody with a phone camera plus I am guessing the local authorities could be their own bosses on how to treat you.  Now it will get them fired.  I would hate to think about all the stuff that happened back then that nobody knew about or nobody shared with others.

Seems like there is little chance Long will fire CBB at the end of this year. He has as much as said so in some of his interviews I have heard. If the coach gets fired this year, Long will have to be sent packing with him IMO. I think we will be getting a new coach after next year though

Yeah let's go to Atlanta and get another coach that has the propensity to flame out in amazing, public fashion.
