The Gators are -9 but I think it will be closer. I think all the close games we have played this year will pay off tonight. I think we match up pretty well with them. We haven't beaten them in Gainesville in 21 years. We are due......

Hawg Red

Same here. They're beatable. Might be looking past us having just beaten WVU and with Kentucky up next this weekend. Our guys that were on the team last year and probably fired up given what happened down there last time we played them. Should be a good game either way.

BRHogfan

The biggest thing is they were really able to deal well with the West Virginia press on Saturday and shot well from 3.

I'm confident that we can get a big game out of Moses, Dusty, and Anthlon and get a win, but I think we're going to have to have a great offensive game to do it.

ShadowHawg

They are tough at home but streaky from the 3.

If they shoot their averages I like our chances.

azhog10

Kingsley is going to have to play disciplined. I think his over aggressiveness was one of the things that led to us being in a deep hole against UK. If he tries to come out and block every shot and leave the backside open UF will run on us. IF DH and Anthlon can find ways to get open against whatever defenses they throw at us we should be able to stay in the game.

I don't think officiating will cost us a win or loss, but I am curious to see how it's officiated after the last time we went there and the SEC office basically admitted to us getting screwed when they allowed CMA to publicly criticize the officiating with no punishment whatsoever.

Some would call that a trap game ;)

That's the excuse some people used for Texas A&M losing to us.

I made a thread earlier this year about a game where Moses was trying to block every shot so I agree with you. Our player's are susceptible to pump fakes so hopefully we play disciplined. That doesn't mean Moses shouldn't try to block shots but it can't come at the expense of the 3rd defender not rotating to defend the man Moses left to block a shot. Hopefully we won't trap full court. I would like to see us use the LSU game plan

Moses is in the game to play strong defense on his man, and to play help defense when a player is shooting in the lane.  You want Moses in there altering shots (I believe I said this in your thread).

Our biggest improvement on defense will come rebounding the ball and not giving up multiple possessions.  The strange thing is that we get out rebounded, but manage to take extra shots compared to our opponents due to turnovers.  Hopefully we force Florida over their average.

I deeply hope so.. but truthfully, I'd be shocked.... I would not be shocked by a loss in OT, though... go hogs :razorback:

Please not another OT. Win or lose in regulation. I don't need that much excitement. I'm pretty pumped for this game as it is.  :razorback:

I've seen Fl shoot really poorly a couple of times, and unlike years past they are not talented enough to overcome poor shooting on talent alone.
People ask me what I do in winter when there is no baseball.  I will tell you what I do. I stare out the window, and I wait for spring.

Pigliophile

As much as I would love the win, they have a great 3 point defense. We will need Moses in a big way to open up dusty and bell. MK will be the key to a win tonight.

ErieHog

Florida is a better three point shooting team than their numbers indicate; they struggled mightily early in the year, but have come on very strong of late.

I'd expect that to be the difference tonight.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

hobhog

They lead the SEC in 3 point defense and have a good matchup with Moses on inside. That's why Vegas has them favored by 9.

MountieDawg

I am sure Coach Bielema's comments will have the Rowdy Reptiles a little fired up, he didn't do MA any favors!

Yeah, because the basketball team is using CBB's recruiting comments as bulletin board material.

Letsroll1200

We couldn't get Florida at a better time than tonight. We play them between West Virginia and Kentucky!!! During the presser Coach White mentioned going on the road to face Kentucky. I really hope this team is looking forward to Saturday instead of focusing on the Hogs on Wednesday.

Florida does have strong guard play and is also solid on the inside. I like this Florida team but hopefully we can pull off the upset. The refs owe us after that crap they pulled off last season.

HotlantaHog

There is a reason the home team wins 75% of all SEC conference games, more than other conferences. For the Hogs to win, they have to beat the Gators and the refs. Possible, but will really take a great night.

Forgot all about Leon. Is he going to play? Thought he got a concussion.

Hawg Red

QuoteWednesday, when the teams meet at Gainesville, Fla., marks the first matchup Conway native and 6-foot-8 Florida Gator forward Justin Leon will have against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

"It's not that big of a matchup for me because I'm not playing my hometown team," Leon said Tuesday via a telephone interview. "I'm not trying to get too hyped up for the game, but it's nice that I get to play them so my family and friends can watch the game on TV."

Very odd comment for anyone from Arkansas for sure.

I'm ready to be cheated at Florida.  Football or basketball, the refs always help them.

Aside from most of the TAMU game in College Station we've played pretty well on the road this season. 5 of our 8 road games have been decided by 4 points our less. With our history in Gainsville it'll either be a close win, or a close loss.

I'm sure not playing for the Bears has left him heartbroken.

He played for La Tech rather than his home town school so he has little credibility on the "no big deal" because it's not his home town issue. Doesn't look like the home team had any pull on him at all if they couldn't keep him over Tech.

Unfortunately, while it could be an excuse if it happens, it is also true that officiating in the SEC is miserably bad. Which will still be the same, whatever the outcome tonight.

I'm making excuses when I blame other people for my problems, but is it really an "excuse" when NONE of us know anything that happens behind the scenes and we are left to try to come up with an explanation?  Isn't it all conjecture?  Using your criteria aren't you making excuses for the program as a whole when you trash the coach?

It seemed to me their fans were more rowdy than the fans at any of our games. Hogs had no answer for Ugbunu because MK was in foul trouble. Florida Is simply a better team than Arkansas. I enjoyed the effort our boys put forward.  ;)

I actually thought Thompson was better on Ugbunu that MK.

MK never got to play him straight up, he scored nearly all his points because our guards were beaten off dribble penetration all night forcing Moses to rotate over to attempt to prevent the layup leaving Ugbuntu all alone under the rim to score. As I said before this teams problems have nothing to do with their offense or what defense the opponent plays, it has everything to do with their inability to lock a team down defensively and finish with the rebound.

MK wasn't able to maintain position on him whether it was posting up or rebounding. That was the difference for me.

I agree that our guards didn't help, but MK wasn't able to move him.
