Quote from: NostraHOGus on Today at 08:15:26 amUmmm, whose name, image, and likeness are we supporting?

I don't think fan contributions or university cooperatives that distribute donations to an "NIL" fund are what was intended when the courts ruled that players should be able to receive compensation for their name, image, and likeness.

This concept is still a mess, and I just hope we've got folks who know what they are doing and not just trying to emulate what other schools are doing. The idea that it's like what Saban described (how much can you give me) is extremely problematic.

It's what it is (for now) though and you keep up or fall behind.

But ultimately, I agree, this isn't how it will likely operate forever.

Quote from: Darren DeLoach on Yesterday at 05:58:52 pmThe blood tone of the program, banners, tradition, facilities, and all the things that mattered before 2020 no longer apply to 90 percent of the athletes.

A program like Mizzou can be terrible but sign an incredible transfer and freshman class because NIL trumps all other measurables. Adapt or die, and the old mega-programs still want the front of the jersey to matter when it generally does not.

NIL has completely changed the dynamics of college sports. It could ruin it. I hope not.

I think this would be a nice pickup.  He is a solid player with potential for depth or for a rotation piece should he make a nice jump from his freshman to sophomore season.  I watched the highlights of the Kentucky/Vanderbilt game the other night and he looked good in his breakout game with extended minutes.  It is admirable that he would come to Arkansas knowing that playing time might not be there, should he make the decision to come and play a second season for Coach Calipari.  I liked things that I watched from a pre-college highlight video as well.  A guy around 6-9 with shooting, scoring, ball handling skills, and length are things to definitely work with for the future.  It would also provide a second guy who play for Coach Cal this past season, so in one sense it would be like a returning player coming back for next season although in a different uniform.

Cormani McClain reveals 11 schools he's heard from in transfer portal

by: Grant Grubbs

QuoteCormani McClain has no shortage of options in the transfer portal. Per On3's Hayes Fawcett, the Colorado cornerback has heard from LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Auburn, Texas A&M, USC, UCF, USF, Georgia, UCLA and Oregon.

In McClain's lone season with the Buffaloes, he tallied 13 tackles and two passes defended. His playing time gradually increased throughout the season. McClain started in Colorado's final three games of the 2023 campaign.

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders attributed McClain's increased time on the field to the freshman's improved mindset.

A product of Lakeland High (Fla.), Cormani McClain was a five-star prospect and the No. 13 overall player from the 2023 cycle.

"I'm always in prayer for young men, and I want the best for them," Sanders told DNVR on Wednesday. "And I pray to God that he goes to a program that challenges him as well as holds him accountable and develops him as a young man. Unfortunately, we weren't the program that could accomplish that.

"So prayerfully that he understands that this is his second go-around and get it. Go get it, man. Because he has a tremendous amount of talent, but he has to want it."

Colorado faces mass exodus in transfer portal
Colorado has lost 34 players during or since the 2023 campaign. However, Sanders and Co. have also added 26 players.
