Timber rattler?  Better get out of that ground blind.....& up in a tree.

What area are you hunting......& killed that big snake?

While I disagree with the rule below, in Arkansas:

"You may hunt wildlife only during an open season for that species.

    If a species is not discussed in a current copy of the Arkansas Hunting Guidebook, there is no open season for that species. (example: It is illegal to shoot a snake, because there is no season listed.)"

Having said that, it specifically says "shoot a snake".  Is it legal to cut it's head off?

I want to say there is some type of "imminent threat" rule in Arkansas. Anytime you feel in immediate danger you can kill an animal

No.  Killing a snake in self defense is OK.  Going to the woods specifically to look for and kill a snake is not.

I run into these thundermoccasins from time to time on my place in white rock..if they are close to my cabin i kill them,if they are in the woods i pass them up mostly. Copperheads on the other hand get no free pass no matter where i see them. i guess if they catch me they will just have to write that ticket. In the words of Steve the lawnmower man,,,,come get me!

Not hunting them but will kill em all if I see em.  Place is down south; cutting timber near us so we are seeing and killing a bunch of em

I killed one just about that size years ago.....Farindale, Saline River bottoms.  He was crossing the road, edge of a clear cut.

No problem.  Doesn't say anything about shovel's, rake's or long stick's.  I don't hunt em.......just kill em.  If I can see a poisonous snake.....it's an imminent threat.

Have been known to "accidentally" run over them with a vehicle. Usually go back & check to see if they are injured.  If they aren't.... I try again...

They must be bad this year cause Rattle snake pictures are popping up all over hunting websites and even Facebook.
