Conque should do the honorable thing: resign and then take a step down to a school like Arkansas state.

To late he chose to take a step up, relative to ASU, not UCA of course. I do watch LR TV on occasion and know that UCA is THE # 2 school in Arkansas. Just have to believe those folks in LR are telling you straight..............right? We all know the Arkansas media does not lie, right?

What are they by the way, the purple people eaters or something like that. Whatever, sorry ASU missed the boat.

Seriously.........very good coach, and hope UCA gets an even better one.

UCA might be calling Rick Jones.  After numerous State Championships at Greenwood, he doesn't really have anything left to prove at Greenwood.  Jones has coached before at the collegiate level.

Another name that has been brought up regarding UCA's vacancy is Chris Hatcher (currently Murray State's Head Coach).  Hatcher won a National Championship as Valdosta State's Head Coach, and he was also Georgia Southern's Head Coach after he left Valdosta State.  Hatcher's head coaching record at Valdosta State was 76-12 (86.36% winning percentage).  Hatcher has also coached in the SEC (he was Kentucky's QB/WR Coach in 1999).

UCA will never be the #2 team in Arkansas.  The decision on the purple turf pretty much sealed it.

UCA rumored to have hired Abilene Christian HC Ken Collums. He was the QB for UCA's NAIA title in 1991 and OC in 2002

It is being reported that Steve Campbell is UCA's new Head Coach.  That is an excellent hire by UCA.  Campbell has been the Head Coach at MGCCC.  He is a National Championship winning Head Coach.  Campbell coached Terrence Cody before Cody went to Alabama where he dominated us and the rest of the SEC.  Also, Campbell has coached in the SEC (he was a Graduate Assistant at Auburn in 1988-1989 and he was the OL Coach at Mississippi State in 2003).  From his Bio page.

I could actually see ASU playing UCA in LR, if there were money to be made.

Read on AstateNation that some cities in Missouri, now that Missouri has turned the corner in the SEC,  were offering ASU a lot of money to move the Missouri game to their city.

Fact is ASU's new AD has big plans for ASU, and they cost money, so if the powers that be in LR make it worth their while they will show up and play whoever.

ASU is not afraid of playing UCA, and they are not stupid enough to think UCA could not beat them, but who cares......its a game, and is fun.
A winless Georgia State almost beat em, just sayin

Uca would be lucky to win a game in Fbs. You could line up the bottom 12 teams and I doubt Uca wins 1

Uca is far from being the second team in the state and the gap in widening every year.

UCA just inked a coach for 4 years for same monay a coach will get in 1 year at Astate. Hell the assistants at A-state make more than the HC at UCA

I think reality was frustrating to their former HC, who made it known when he was hired that his intention was to make them the #2 program in the state.

Most people in Arkansas don't really understand there is no comparing the two schools, or the towns they are in.

If they could just have recruits read message boards or watch LR TV they may have had a chance.

Unfortunately recruits do actually get to visit and compare the schools, and towns, and that is a show stopper for UCA.

Youcould be on to something. Most high schoolers play Friday night in stadiums bigger than Estes just saying

I think both the University of Arkansas and UCA have been hurt by the propaganda that the Central Arkansas media puts out, because reality does not match the hype.

ASU and Jonesboro on the other hand far exceeds the expectation's of the recruits that visit. Almost without exception they start by saying they were shocked by how nice the school and town are.

A young man from Fort Smith who flipped to ASU from UCA, a year or so ago even said based on what he read and heard in NWA he thought the two schools and towns were  the same, and was absolutely stunned at the difference  when he visited ASU.

Know the patristic Arkansas media thinks other wise, but IMO it is better that a school or town be better than what people think rather than less, and that is working in ASUs favor big-time.

Welcome, Coach Campbell!

The Wide Receivers Coach (Pete Bennett) who was with Steve Campbell at MGCCC is going to be on Campbell's Coaching Staff at UCA.  The following WR became the nation's #1 ranked JUCO player under Bennett's coaching and development (the WR signed with Auburn last week).

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-D'haquille-Williams-143815

Here is Bennett's Bio.

http://www.mgcccbulldogs.com/sports/fball/coaches/Pete_Bennett_Bio

Someone posted over on another message board that Campbell stated during his introductory press conference the other day that he has received interest from people that want to be on his Coaching Staff from teams including USC and Miami.  So, Campbell might not have anyone else from his MGCCC Coaching Staff come to UCA (as of now, Pete Bennett is the only one going to UCA).  If he does bring in another Coach from his Coaching Staff at MGCCC, I hope/wish he brings in to UCA the following Defensive Line Coach.  This DL Coach coached and developed Terrence Cody, who went on to Alabama.
