A comparison of three coaches at P5 schools with similar levels of success . Both Johnny Dawkins and Travis Ford got eight seasons. Overall, Anderson's winning percentages are higher at Arkansas than Dawkins and Ford. Dawkins' claim to fame was two NIT championships. In his only trip in eight seasons, he got to the Sweet Sixteen.

Ford got to the NCAA's five out of his eight seasons, but never got out of the first weekend.

I'm guessing that if these two got eight seasons, it might not be out of line to think of Anderson getting an eighth season as well. But, it would be helpful if he took this team to the tourney.

I think you have to factor in the depth and difficulty of the B12 for Ford.

For Ford, 2 NCAAT trips to start so that probably bought him the next 2 seasons to rebuild.  Then starting in season 5 hotseat where he had to win again it was back to the NCAAT 3 more times.  This got him 8 seasons.

Stanford is just not passionate about sports in comparison.  Mike Montgomery did very well there but it didn't start till his 9th season.

Dawkins kind of did what Ford did on a lesser scale.  Just when he reached a probable firing season in season 4, he wins the NIT.  Buys him season 5 which was another NIT.  Hot seat in season 6 but he makes the Sw 16.  Buys him season 7 which is NIT Ch which buys 8 which is a failure.  He was able to keep doing enough for a while.

Lets pretend Mike is just another coach at Arkansas.  Season 4 would have bought him season 5.  Season 6 would have been hot seat due to season 5 but it cooled due to NCAAT trip.  He gets season 7.   Also didn't have practice facility so that may have bought him some time after the early seasons - if he were just another coach.  Not being able to turn over the roster in the beginning due to concern over harming progress made in the APR would have bought him some time in the early seasons - if he were just another coach.

Arkansas basketball would have higher expectations than Stanford - if this were any other coach.

Disclaimer- Not in any way advocating Mike's firing.
