Welp, I have a tear in my left shoulder labrum from the 7-9 o'clock position.  Going to have to have surgery sometime in March.  Maybe some issue with my bicep tendon...won't know until they get in there and have a look.

Anyone have any experience with this procedure and can offer any advice/info on the subject?

Had one 15 years ago, torn biceps tendon an what they called a slap tear in shoulder. Internal an external rotation were hardest for me to get back-and the physical therapy sucks!! I can say no issues since with it but I try to not throw to hard, gave up tennis.

I'll be praying for you Nate. Hope everything turns out for you.

Army is finally getting around to getting my surgery tomorrow.  Only had to wait 8 months (yay socialized medicine!).  Wish me luck and if you're the praying type, say one for me.  Thanks.

Sent one up for you bro.

Sucks it's taken so long but hopefully all will go well and you'll be all healed up before you know it.

Take it easy and enjoy the goofy gas.  :)

It ain't so bad.  Either all the horror stories about the pain were over exagerated, or I have a higher tolerance for pain than most.

Two anchors inserted to repair "large" tear and grinded down collar bone a bit for ac joint issue.  Not to mention severe bursitis.

All in all, I'm doing pretty good.

On Dec 9th, 2013 I had my bicep tendon reattached, my torn labrum repaired, and my torn rotator cuff repaired.  5 hours worth of surgery.

The MRI didn't show the torn rotator cuff.

4 months later, I'm still in physical therapy.  It's definitely the worst thing I've ever been through.

The physical therapy is more important than the surgery.  In addition to my PT appointments, I do about an hours worth of stretching, pulleys, and strengthening bands every night.

Good luck to you.  You have a long hard road ahead of you.

When I fractured (broke off) my lower gleniod the surgery to screw it back in placed involved detatching my bicep. Physical therapy is the most important part.

I feel you on the military medical issues. I tore off a chunk of my meniscus when I dislocated my knee during PT. ER doc started off by saying I was fine and sending me home in a straight brace. I had to go back to the ER later that night when my knee swelled to the size of a melon. Again the left me in a straight brace. Got to see a specialist two months later, first thing he said is that I never should have been put in that brace.  My knee was basically locked straight at that point. Rehab was hortible. I've experienced socialized medicine.......no thanks.

If the South should lose, it means that the history of the heroic struggle will be written by the enemy, that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers, will be impressed by all of the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision.

I've been making good progress with PT.  The doc actually told me to slow down.  She's the expert, so I slowed down, but now it seems the pain is getting a bit stronger.

I guess I'm a fast healer. Ortho doc said he's never seen anyone recover the strength and mobility that I have in the time I have. I took physical therapy very seriously and paid attention to nutrition. Plus, daily prayers to the good Lord about recovery seem to have been answered. I'll be back in the gym by October.
