BTW Rory Segrest is over the DL and the Special teams. Neither has been up to SEC standards the past 2 years. Should be an obvious change

By the way, he is over "Specialist", you know kickers, punters, long snappers......

The point was, when he landed at a major school and started winning, they started stealing some of the more highly ranked players from the usual big boys in Texas and A&M. And Briles real impact on gaining higher ranked recruits didn't happen overnight. His first 4 years he only landed 1 single 4 star player each year. After going 10-3 in 2011, he signed four 4 stars in Feb of 2012, something Baylor hadn't done at least since 2002. Now Baylor never loaded up on a ton of 4 or 5 star players and they didn't need to in order to execute their scheme in their conference. But it is a testimony to what can be done in recruiting once you begin to win at a higher level.

And Petrino wasn't here long enough (he took a dump in his mess kit quicker than Briles) and we play in a more difficult conference.
What! You mean you can win with 3 star players?! Who knew?! Must have been pretty good coaching... ???

His defense let Casey dick beat him.  He also allowed Bobby to run down his throat for 200 yards. It's been a few weeks since I dove into that season besides its final rankings but I believe they had many 200 yard rushing games allowed, only won maybe 1 sec game, beat up on sisters of the poor teams only, and got weaker as the year went on.

They interviewed Rhoads for that position last year

Miss State has hired Todd Grantham from Louisville as DC per SI reporter on Twitter.

Is that any better? We have an untrustworthy field goal kicking unit and an inability to kickoff through the endzone
That's right, you don't want to be the man to replace the man.  You want to be the man to replace Rory Segrest.

Any better?  Maybe, maybe not...at least it was factual.  The point was if you're going to make an argument, at least act like you have enough knowledge to make your position plausible.  Degrades the credibility of your stance when 50% of your argument is invalid due to not even knowing his job.

It is being reported that Pitt and an NFL team are talking to Enos.  The NFL team is likely as a QB coach.

check farther and you''ll find several of those 70's ranked defenses with Rhoad's . he seems to do well with other coaches recruits . He is a big hit or bad miss guy depending on the year.one season , you may be top 10 and the next be 80

Go back and read my first post on this.  I'm
Not knocking the guy, just don't understand the love that he's going to step in and fix it BASED on what he did at auburn. But that requires you to actually read and comprehend a conversation going on in which you have not done

There is no reaching in the quoted post.  Reaching is thinking Rhoads with such conviction  will make Arkansas a top defense.  No one really knows. I've never said he will do bad or would be a bad hire. Just stated if you dive into the big picture of his past it opens questions.

Why could he not stop the run late in games?

Why does he have a track record of losing to physical teams?

Why did auburn fall apart late in the one season he was there?

How do you get to be 27th ranked defense not stopping any offense in the top probably 75?

Wildhog

Here's the deal with Rhoads.  If he wasn't here, already, and he was just announced out of the blue as our new DC, we'd all think it's a big time hire.

I know the answer to the Last 2. Auburn's offense was terrible with Franklin the OC and they fired him mid-season.

Feel free to provide actually stats for the first 2

Look into the games for themselves.

Firing an OC at ANYTIME is not an answer to why a defense isn't stopping middle of the field offenses.

Pitt has hired a head coach. Speculation as to Enos amounts to stuff like this:

http://www.scout.com/college/pittsburgh/forums/2455-inside-the-huddle/15310289-enos-or-napier

Not much there. Haven't heard anything about an NFL position but I don't do pay boards.

Bacon_Bitz

And I think Enos is great but if he wants out, let him go. Need complete buy in next year to get those 11 wins.

LZH

Just got a PM about it. Said he probably is just going to get a new contract here. Could you imagine though him taking the OC job at Pitt? That would be a bad, bad sign.

Maybe he needed some leverage in getting a different contract with Arkansas

May be. I know everyone is pretty irritated about the Auburn game and our last two games, but you would think he wouldn't need too much leverage to secure another couple of years if that is what we are talking about. I honestly don't know when his existing contract is up.

In the SEC
He coached at Auburn in 2008 serving as defensive back under Tommy Tuberville. The defense ranked No. 18 nationally in scoring, allowing 18 points per game, and 178.8 yards passing ranking No. 22. In 2008, one of Auburn's losses was to Arkansas, 25-22, in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

We would be a farm system for Pitt OC's. But it's not all that bad. Pitt beat Clemson and will get some preseason top 25 hype. They also have a more recent national championship, a Heisman winner, and a more recent conference championship than Arkansas.
