Quote from: Grizzlyfan on April 18, 2024, 11:19:41 amThe primary criticism is that most everything you hear coming out of spring practice and Red-White game is overstated and overhyped.  We don't have a lot of high level SEC players and it will show in the fall.  That doesn't make me happy to say, but we have a ways to go to fix that.

Any Walton cash needing to be spent?  Could use some SEC LBs, receivers and OL players.

Quote from: Cowtown Hog on Today at 08:27:33 amAttending a dozen plus B12 games a year, I've noticed some of those officials working other conference games. So technically you're correct. But something doesn't pass the eye test and I've heard mention of "league play" in B12 being called with greater allowance for physical play. I don't know how that works in terms of advising officials or if it's even a real factor. But numbers don't lie. This is a chart in USAToday article on fouls per league for 2020 season.

Total fouls committed

SEC — 7,746 (553 per 14 teams)
ACC — 6,979 (465 per 15 teams)
Big Ten — 6,466 (461 per 14 teams)
Pac-12 — 5,968 (497 per 12 teams)
Big East — 4,970 (497 per 10 teams)
Big 12 — 4,864 (486 per 10 teams)
Thanks for sharing those stats. I think that conferences establish identities by the types of teams that play in them. For instance, there's a stereotype that the B1G has a bunch of slow-paced half-court teams, the Big 12 plays fast, yada yada yada. I think that teams absorb something from their competition and that helps create that identity. The officials then officiate a particular brand of basketball, so you may see the same guys who called 50 fouls in the Arkansas-Mizzou game call 35 fouls in a Baylor-Kansas game.

I was thinking that as well.  That could end up costing us a game if they are unwilling to move it.

I sure hope they have gone out of state for a 2nd opinion and gotten away from the team doctors.

Quote from: TebowHater on Today at 01:13:48 pmYeah not looking good :(

It's a shame they don't know what's wrong because if he does need surgery we're just burning time he could be recovering

At this point we are going to lose him for two seasons.
