I've got the Royals -- especially with home field advantage for KC.

Bumgarner will have to start at home. I don't get it, but he is a lot better on the road.

KC cannot be stopped right now. If they get a man on base with less than two outs, look out. And they've got one of the best bull pens I've ever seen.

As I mentioned earlier, Lorenzo Cain is my favorite player in all of mlb right now.

Go Royals!

OK I voted for the Cards, of course. But you can count me as "Royals" if you must. Lol.

Giants all the way.  They have the every other even year advantage.  2010, 2012, and now 2014.

Anybody want tickets in SF, let me know.

I have season tickets in lower box.

I accidentally booked a trip to jamaica before the playoffs.  So I can't go.  But I'm trying to postpone the trip a few days to hit up the first game in SF.

I'm all in for the Royals since the Redbirds are out.

That's awesome. I've maintained season tickets to the Razorbacks for football and can't really justify Cardinal season tickets too, but I can dream, haha.  Plus I can make it to almost every Razorback game since they're on Saturdays. KC isn't clots enough to STL to make a ton of games. I rarely make it to more than 8-10 in a season.

I'll pm you about those WS tickets though. Two guys that I work with -- a guy I know really wants to take his sin but the cheapest tickets in KC are over $700. Not sure what you'd sell yours for but I'll pass the info along.

Mostly indifferent;  it'd be kind of nice to see Royals fans with a reason to celebrate.  They've seen a lot of bad baseball since 1985.

That said,  the Giants are deserving of my thanks for the public service they did in the NLCS.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

gutshot

I have been pulling for KC throughout the playoffs, but I am also a huge Tim Hudson fan, a Jake Peavy fan, and a Hunter Pence fan so it won't break my heart if they win.

All I want to see is more great baseball games like we have seen all postseason so far...preferably 7 of them.

People don't like the Cardinals for the Cardinals, and their fans.     The Giants are a reasonably successful franchise, and people don't generally hate them-- because their fans act with a modicum of restraint and dignity.

Popcorn I'm having a blast....enjoying the ride that Cardinals fans have had so many times. The Wild Card game against the A's was my first playoff game in KC and it ranks at the absolute top with all my greatest sporting event moments ever, including going to the Super Bowl, Final 4's and many great bowl games. I sat glued to my seat for 6 hours other than 2 beer runs and a bathroom stop. I purchased our World Series tickets last night and cannot wait!!! Looking very forward to a great match up with such a storied franchise that I have watched from afar since I was a kid. My son is a Royals season ticket holder and he and his girl (huge Royals fan) got engaged at the K on opening day with all of their friends and family there and they are having a magical season leading up to their wedding!!
Just sitting on the deck with a cold beer and a hot tequila watching the razorbacks roam.

Pointing out the one Cardinals fan who is acting that way, and doesn't even realize he is talking to another cardinals fan is reaching. At least in this thread. Most every cardinal fan poster that is a regular, and not a postseason now I'm a fan poster, has pretty much acted exactly the opposite of how you describe all cardinals fans.

Yes, there are some cards fans that only show up when things are good. It probably seems like an unusually high number to you. That's what happens though when you live in close proximity to the franchise. Better yet, that's what happens when you live in close proximity to a very successful franchise.

It isn't  'just one';  heck, I call out multiple Cardinal fans in just about every thread for their behavior,  to help show examples of where Cardinal fan conduct is pretty egregious.   Nevermind that, though-  they're all well behaved, because they agree with your preference in teams.  And no, while Casual Fans are a plague of all sports, they're not that different for the Cardinals;  it isn't a question of activity.

And no, Northwest Arkansas is not 'close proximity' to the Cardinals;   Fayetteville is closer to both Dallas and Kansas City, and the relative success of franchises in those locations hasn't produced even a tiny fraction of the bad behavior you see every day from Cardinals faithful.

The Bubble is alive and well.

I'm not talking about northwest Arkansas. I'm talking about the large portions of the state that are closer to the Cardinals than any other team.

Maybe the bubble is something you are in. Maybe you're the one who is unable to see any of the good fans. No, that can't be right. That would mean that you might actually be wrong about something. You'd never be able to come to terms with that.

You say you call out cardinals fans in almost every thread, yet this is the first I've seen of it. I read pretty much every thread that has anything about the cardinals and haven't seen it. I may have overlooked it. (See, not that hard to admit you might be wrong about something)

I don't think they are well behaved because they root for the team I like. I really don't care who anyone else roots for and it doesn't change my opinion of how well they are behaved if they have the same preference of team as me. I see a lot of fans with good and bad behavior from all fan bases, including the ones I like. Hell I think the Hogs have a lot of stupid fans and I love the hogs.

Generalizations of an entire base of people is what is stupid. I thought the world had figured that out quite some time ago. You don't like a team, that's fine. To put all their fans in some mythical bubble is ignorant though. The inability to admit that your opinion might be misguided is flat out arrogance. Which is exactly what you criticize the whole cardinals fan base for.

The majority of the population of the state of Arkansas has a MLB franchise that is closer to them than St. Louis.  That's been the case since as far back as they have information as to the 'center of population' in the state of Arkansas.

Sigh.  So much no, here.    I can be wrong about plenty of things; if I ever doubt it for a moment, I ask my wife.    The bubble is a very real thing-- and it isn't just the space around me, or the handful of Cardinal fans I interact with daily.    Most of all, it isn't exclusively perceived by me-- take a good look at some of the Royal threads, or conversations with other non-Cardinals fans-- they see it and live it, and are just as aware of the bubble.

Well, its not like we didn't just have a multipage thread about Cardinal fans  and the scoreboard in Razorback Stadium.   I generally avoid talking in most threads,  because of Cardinal fans-- but when I do, I'm pretty uniform in pointing out their entitlement mentality.    Why don't I get active in more threads?  Because I'm guaranteed to get the same defensive, entitled, snotty Cardinal fan behavior.   At some point, it is simply easier to just let you folks live in your bubble.

Which is exactly what you criticize the whole cardinals fan base for.

Keep in mind that not only have I repeatedly said there are a few decent Cardinal fans, but have given examples of non-terrible Cardinal fan behaviors, as well as examples of how other fan bases that are hyper-successful can and do manage not to venture into Cardinal-fan territory.

There is, however, a very strong, very distinct pattern among Cardinal fans, that make them the worst to be around in all of sports.    Strong language? Sure.   Do I entertain arguments that there are other awful fan bases, both in baseball and in other sports?  Sure.  Those are always fun.

The end-cap, though is pretty solid deflection, and exactly the behavior I highlight as typical of the problematic Cardinal fan;   the problem is 'someone else', and 'ignorance',  and 'you are doing what you criticize us for'--    essentially an appeal to be seen as a victim.

Might my opinion be misguided?  Sure.  Decade upon decade of interactions with Cardinal fans, in every stripe of life, in all the corners of the state of Arkansas,  might just be me encountering the very worst of the very worst.       Is it likely?  No.    Is my experience unique among non-Cardinal fans?   Nope.       Do I hope my opinion becomes misguided as Cardinal fans both become more rare, and turn away from their past?   I sure hope so.

Until then,  I'll keep at it.   I'm sure, until then, Cardinal fans will continue to plug their ears, call it jealousy,  pat themselves on the back when they're even momentarily decent to non-Cardinal fans.

What am I digging?

Every time you respond, you show the inability of a Cardinals fan to take even a tiny bit of criticism of their team or fan base;  thereby, you demonstrate at fantastic length, exactly the point I illustrate.    You make my argument for me.

I don't mind the criticism. I'm my biggest critic in life, business, as a father, etc. I prefer not to criticize other fanbases. Hog fans, Cards fans, LSU fans, etc,....everybody dislikes someone.

Eh.  When fan bases behave like Cardinals fans, they draw the criticism upon themselves.
