I've got a close friend who is an executive at one of NWA's Fortune 500 companies who told me yesterday that we will "absolutely" pay Bret's buyout. He also said it will happen before the end of the season if things continue. He's extremely connected and has been for the past few decades, so I trust his intell! Rest easy Hogville! Change is coming!

Must not be Wal-Mart then because as you know from reading on here they care nothing about athletics at the UA...................................
If I'm going to cheer players and coaches in victory, I damn sure ought to be man enough to stand with them in defeat.

The OTR

Did Wal Mart finally decide to sell Crystal Bridges and fund this buyout?  Sacrificing the arts for football....to me it makes perfect sense.

hawgon

I think it is true because I honestly don't think that there is any way he can be allowed to stay after this meltdown.

So your life is so good that you get a little piece of info and come here to share it with anonymous fans?

People that have been on this site for a while have seen countless new posters come and spout of these sources, then disappear.  It's nothing personal, just how its been for 15 years.

Regardless of the OP's accuracy (not denying, lots of chatter out there) the buyout will NOT be a factor - if CBB needs to be done at UA he will be done at UA.

This is the truth. Buyout is not a problem from what I've heard.

I've got more faith in Alex Jones at Infowars.  And you could easily count that percentage on one finger.

Well,  perhaps so,  but he still has more credibility than CNN or most of the other mainstream media.

Well between you and HIM you obviously have all the NWA "inside scoop" covered. I'm sure all the rest of us are eternally grateful for sharing. We'd likely be totally lost without it.

There is enough chatter that I kind of believe it.  I'm not sure that he even wants to stay at this point.  I think he is looking for a way out.

That's why I think he would negotiate the buy-out downward; in exchange for being able to resign, maybe now or at seasons end.

Read something, posted by a truth teller, on one of the pay boards over the week end that certainly (to me at least) indicated some decision regarding the football program was in active discussion.

Could be discussing the height and width of the goal posts for all I know.  But, I'd bet a buck that the discussion subject was a bit more critical than that.  Possibly affording some lucky retiree a lake front home up in Madison or a nice spread back in Illinois to raise a few pigs.

I honestly think after this season CBB will be ready to take him millions, buy a little beach house in Florida, listen to reggae music and spend quality time with his new daughter.  I say this in all seriousness, not out of any spite, but I'm worried about the guy's health and I don't think this gig is helping it any.

The buyout isn't as big of a hurdle as people make it out to be, especially the media. Buyouts can be negotiated down. If Long doesn't think Bielema is getting it done, he can get around the buyout.

11/19/2023:  Keeping my original semi-prophetic, apocalyptic signature below.  We continue to regret passing on Norvell, who is in the running for the Playoffs.  We continue regret passing on Kiffin, who is eyeing a New Years 6 game.  Heck, we regret passing on Drinkwitz (he may be a dork, but he will have his team in a New Years 6 game after they truck us on Black Friday).

Meanwhile, Sam is drinking Pittman, wondering if he has the leverage to re-hire Enos, Sexton is doing the triple Lindy into his Olympic-size pool full of cash, and thousands of hog fans are planning to dress up as empty seats for next year's Halloween game.

11/25/2018:  My original "Chad Morris" signature is below.  I'm modifying my view as follows:  We will continue to regret passing on Norvell and Kiffin.   After 3 years, when Morris is 10-26, we are going to be saying "What were we thinking?  Even Bert was better than this!"

I've got some down at Eudora that is a real solid investment.

Exactly, size of this buyout doesn't determine when he gets fired.  He wouldn't have been fired yet if there was no buyout.

Unless the list has changed - these are the Fortune 500 companies located in NW Arkansas.

Wal-Mart
Tyson
JB Hunt

I would assume you are referencing John Roberts (JB Hunt); since he graduated from the UofA.  If what you say is true, and if it is Mr. Roberts made that statement.  I'm pretty sure that Mr. Roberts wouldn't appreciate you coming onto a public forum and quoting him.

I'll give the board a little tip. During trying times everyone has something to say. Those writings check just as much or more than anyone else. That does not necessarily mean everyone is on the same page.

Food for thought as you hear different rumors rolling around.

Any Administrator who doesn't consider the buyout as part of the release of BB is a very poor Administrator.  I believe it could effect the date BB leaves.  You do not pour 15+ million down the drain if its reasonable to not pour 15+ million down the drain.

Ask BB right now if he doesn't believe 15+ million is a problem.  That love note he sent Long is a 15 million dollar aritfact.

If we played two games in WMS Stephens would buy out the contracts.

I just made this up but I get it gets repeated.

To add a "sig line" or "signature line": Go to your "profile" then go to "modify profile" then scroll down to where it says "Signature" and type in what you want it to say and then click on "change profile". That's it, you're done. Your sig line will only show up on your first post on each page.

They need to contact Oregon State to find out how it's done.  They fired their coach today, he was owed 12 million and he told them to keep it.  So, "they mutually agreed to part ways."

I am assuming they had something on Anderson that would have nullified his contract and he didn't want it made public?  (i.e. a motorcycle accident). Who knows, but no one, I mean no one, walks away from $12 mil with NADA! He walks away with his reputation but nothing else?

I just can't imagine that there is not a performance clause in a $15 mil buy out contract of some sort. That certainly would have kept BB half ass motivated to perform on the field!

They are classified as Fortune 500 companies, but only 1 of them is decently managed, and that is J.B. Hunt.

Wal-Mart and Tyson Foods are not managed well (I am referring about day-to-day operational managing).

Wal-Mart needs David Glass to return and whip Wal-Mart into shape.
