Alabama RB Derrick Henry: I’m not close to Tim Tebow’s level http://trib.al/iJKLTix

    Quote
Tim Tebow’s SEC rushing touchdown record is within easy reach, but Derrick Henry says he has a long way to go before being considered alongside Tebow as one of the conference’s all-time greats.

The Crimson Tide running back has 22 rushing scores this year — an Alabama record — and is only one away from tying Tebow and former Auburn running back Tre Mason for the conference mark.

But Monday, he refused to put himself on Tebow’s level.

“Oh no, no no,” Henry said. “I still have a lot of stuff to work on.”

It was a privilege to go along for the ride and share the truth as Bo Jackson earned his Heisman 30 years ago. http://ow.ly/VGBiM

    Quote
Thirty years ago, Auburn running back/legend Bo Jackson won the 1985 Heisman Trophy he deserved to win. If you know anything about Bo, you know that.

What you may not know is the unhappy backstory, the vicious innuendo that almost resulted in the greatest robbery in Heisman history at the expense of the greatest athlete this state has ever known.

It makes me angry to this day. At Rick Reilly and Sports Illustrated and a cheap publicity stunt of an SI cover. At national media members who didn't know Bo but thought they did.

They called him soft, labeled him a quitter, questioned his heart. They played a major role in making the 1985 Heisman race the closest vote in the award's history all the way until 2009, when Alabama's Mark Ingram edged Stanford's Toby Gerhart for the stiff-arm statue.
