Tie ball game early;  Smith has had some effective runs, but hasn't been able to sustain any UCF drives yet.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

HoopS

UCF.

KS is a good back.  Yes, Dmac is better.  But that doesn't mean everybodies gotta dog Smith.  I've watched him closely all year.  He could start on most teams we played against.

Was waiting on you to start this.

I have to say the crowd looks great there and as nancy as this sounds, the field turf looks awesome on screen.  A perfect green.

MSU D looks salty.

ErieHog

Too much speed in the MSU front 4 for the UCF line to handle.

Smith won't break the record, IMHO, nor will UCF win the game.

I'm a bowl nut.   No such thing as a bowl game I won't watch and enjoy at some level, even if I do think they are far too numerous.

88 on 28 carries.

Correct on that;  I see too many lost-yardage plays today for Smith to seriously challenge Barry's mark;  he may well break a couple, but those carries where he's meeting DTs 3 yards deep in the backfield are going to kill his numbers.

Does anyone know why they both are wearing dark uniforms? I know MS State had white for several home games this year. Is that the reason they are wearing Dark Maroon today?

Dixon is a load;  I think if MSU can hold the ball, and sustain some drives to pick up a first down or two, he will wear on that UCF defense far more than Smith will wear on MSU.

I don't know but you'd think state would've at least worn the dark helmets.

I can hear the stadium from here.... man that looks like a fun game to be at

ErieHog

Smith's numbers through the end of the first quarter:  10 carries for 41 yards.

He's still 140 short of passing Barry.

At 47 yards per quarter that might be tough.

Felix did not get a single carry;    Peyton had 11 carries for 65,  Crawford had 2 for 52, and M. Smith had 2 for 4 yards.

Felix had a reception for no yards according to ESPN.  It was the week after the Tennessee game where Felix got hurt with a deep thigh bruise.

SigHog87

WHAT THE HELL KINDA MUSIC was that before the commercial break? lmao

Sao Ming

So according to the PBP's, MSU only allowed 2 100 yd rushers with 127 being the high (Steve Slaton).  UCF's O-line is going to have to work extra hard to help Smith I suppose.  A passing game would help as well.

HoopS

UCF is as one dimensional as us.  They know Smith is running.  Everybody knows.

Both Slaton and BJ-GE had over 20 carries to do that (23 and 29 respectively);  Smith already has 60 yards on 13 carries.

About 300 miles;  an hour and fifteen minute flight, or a long ferry ride.

He had carried the ball 415 times in 13 games coming into today, putting him at 32 a game.    The kid is a workhorse, and should be able to tote the load as many times as they are willing to give it to him.   What may kill his numbers is that UCF isn't picking up first downs, meaning there are plenty of 2 carries/1 incompletion drives for USF, meaning they'd have to do that about 20 times in a game.   Should MSU sustain any drives, it could seriously hamper his bid.

I'm sorry, MSU offense is painful to watch. It's like flashbacks of Nuttball. They couldn't score from ten yards out. I know UCF is good, but come on..kind of embarrassing here. Croom does have a good defense..you can give him that...but the offense..i mean geez, they have more talent than to just totally suck like they do.

They really don't.   They have a true freshman QB who has less than a season of experience,  a big back who can pound the ball, and subpar linemen, paired with the worst hands at WR in the conference on the whole.

They play the way they do, because of the lack of talent on offense.

If I'm UCF, I want to come out in the 2nd half and playaction right off.  The main problem?  Israel isn't a good passer.

If Smith's ankle holds up, this will go down to the end.  If not, and UCF starts throwing more, I expect another turnover or 2.
