Great guy.  I hope he is happy.  However, it is good to see the Hill getting new blood.

what you think it is great that a guy that has gave his heart and soul to this university is leaving after 17 years of service(as well as 4 years as a player). get a life.  he is the one guy up there that has class, and he should truely be missed.  these type of posts are what give message boards a bad name.

Well he may have wanted to stay, but there may not have been room for him. Don't be so quick to judge!

The Realist

Louis Campbell and Tracy Rocker are the only two on staff are the ones that will be missed.  I have no doubt in my mind that L.C. was the missing link this year.  Our corners forgot every fundamental this year while he had them playing much better the year before when he was on the field. ALl of our losses can be contributed to that other than the TN loss.

I think LC is a great guy and wish him well. Kind of surprised he is going with Nutt since he got moved to administration under Nutt. You gotta pay the bills though.

I'll judge as quick as I want to!!!!

Are you twelve years old? Why don't you just say "I know you are but what am I."  What, your trying to pick a fight with this post?

jimmur74

Just who are the "good ole boys"?  I hear that phrase alot.  Coach Campbell will be missed by his alma mater.

grayhawg

If I remember right LC was here when TCTWF came, but I don't think he was a member in good standing with the GOBN.

Louis Campbell has been an Arkansas man for a long time.   The precipitous declines in our defenses can be marked from the days he was removed from an on-the-field coach, into administrative roles.   When Campbell coaches, the Hogs excel on the field.

I'll be very sad to see him go.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

I can't believe that Nutt wants Campbell now, but did not want him on the Hill. ??

The previous posters are full of sh*t, if they think that it is good that Campbell is gone.

Ditto.  Anyone bad mouthing this guy knows nothing about Razorback history or college coaching.

Campbell wanted to coach again and couldn't wait for Petrino to decide if he would be offered on the field coaching job. Allen was staying regardless so he could wait.

edt

Louis Campbell is a great guy and will be missed if he does go to old Miss. He wants to coach on the field, Nutt may be giving him an opportunity to it.

elksnort

Ok, fair enough. I have heared only good thinks about Louis Campbell. Those who say "big deal" don't know what they are talking about.

HangTenHog

It constantly amazes me the folks that profess an opinion but really don't have the facts.

Much as the more I learned about TCTWF, the more I hated what he did to the program, I think the more one learns about the positive contributions of LC, the more you respect him.

I truly wish him well.

pigsooie76

Anybody that knows Campbell knows what kind of person and coach he is. I've never met one person......ONE person that knows him that has one bad thing to say about him. Those who say "big deal" and "don't let the door hit you" are just ones that have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Louis is a man of principal and integrity and he deserves to be happy. He was not happy doing that job last year. He loves this university and has represented it with nothing but class. Anyone that knows him, knows this to be true. He loves coaching and only has a few more years to do this before he does take a desk job for good. And that is exactly what he is going to do. Shame on anyone that judges him for doing that. He wanted to coach here. He is not being asked to, so he is going to where he can do that.

Agree with you, LC is a fine Coach.  He coached the defense in the 2000 Cotton Bowl when we held Texas to -27 yards rushing, No TD's.  He will be missed.

hogpowr

We love you coach Campbell, you will be missed.  Thanks for the many years of faithful service.  Watch you back in Oxford, HDN is down there.
Welcome Coach Bielema!

Good luck to Louis and we wish you the best of luck.  We do intend to beat your ass every year. ;D

Pig Sooie nailed it!!!   How good a coach is Campbell?  He did his GA work at the University of Alabama, and after that the BEAR elevated him to full time assistant.

He called out the fans at the expense of the university.

Please elaborate. I don't not know what you are referring to.

razorhawk

There are many that continue to hate anyone that was at all close to Nutt.  It is time to get over it and move on.

Tejano Jawg

This is too bad. We needed another veteran Hog guy to stay on this staff. LC would have been the best one.

Granted, I'm on the outside looking in, but I'm shocked that Campbell is going with Nutt. Absolutely shocked. There must be something he does not like about Petrino.

the GOB network needs gone

LC is not part of that network.  he was here long before Nutt was.  he has more class in his pinky than the enitre BAC put together.  He is one that I wish we were able to keep.  I have met him and talked to several players from various decades.  All have varying opinions regarding Nutt and the other coaches.  Everyone of them have the same thing to say about Coach Campbell.  They love him and think the world of him.  He is a class act and a helluva coach to boot.

Then why would such a class act as Campbell, a long-time U of A employee, want to follow numb Nutts to Ole Miss?

The chance to coach on the field again, full-time would be the logical answer.

Considering how many years of "quality service" that Louis Campbell has given to the University of Arkansas, what do you say we let him make the life choices that he deems necessary for him and his family and let's all wish him nothing but the very best?

Agreed 100%

If people knew why Louis wasn't on the field last year, everyone of them would understand that he is a type of man seldom seen on this earth.  What he agreed to do last year was above and beyond the call of duty.  He did it because he loves the U of A.  Thats all that I can say about it.

He did it for the love of the UA and Nutt screwed him. He forced him into the office because Vaughn wanted to coach again. I don't understand why all of sudden Nutt wants him to coach when he kept him in the office  for 9  of 10 years and he only coached one year because Herring pushed for it and Nutt was backed into a corner after sucking for two years. I think nUtt is only doing it to keep him away from the UA and possibly coaching. Anything to screw the UA. Wouldn't shock me if he oahes for a year or two and gets bumped back into the office.

Isn't the answer rather obvious?

Nutt wasn't worried about his job at Arkansas, it was very secure, so he kept his "buddies" on the payroll. A new day has dawned in HDN's coaching career and it's either produce or get sent packing.

Given those options I think Nutt has chosen to cut loose a lot of excess baggage and try and surround himself with coaches, instead of buddies for the sake of his coaching future.

Hogules is right on.  Nutt ain't no fool.  The thing that really bothers me is that a guy like Campbell can slip below the radar of so many supposedly football savy people.  After the hogs intercept 4 passes and beat Mizzou 45-17, I guess some may say, gee, what have we done?

Guess Herring didn't advise him. I don't think he would listen to John White for a decision like that

Well said and I agree 100%. Best of Luck, Coach

AckaBacka

Nutt is fortunate to have him.

Maybe this is what that guy was saying earlier about all the Arkansas links being cut.  I would think that LC would stay here if he could.  He's a Hog.

razorkev

I know i was pissed when LC was sent back upstairs...RH knew he was a coach...Why didn't nutt?...ohhh yea...msf foeva..

Tusks

I am shocked LC would coach for hooten....especially since he's seen hooten up close....very surprised by this.
sometimes it's a good and some times it's a schit

Oklahawg

At one point this year Herring quietly asked for LC to watch from the pressbox to see if he could offer advice.

I'd say Reggie knew a coach when he saw one.

Bobby Allen won't coach at UA with Petrino, I am very comfortable with that. There was a post earlier mentioned Allen -- he is leaving UA so his kids can finish school, I believe. Good luck to him.

LCampbell must feel that Petrino will completely clean house in the BAC and wants to continue in coaching or upper administration. If he can look TCTJGF in the eye and accept employment good for both of them. LC's presence will make the OM-UA games that much more meaningful to fans on both sides of the field.
I am a Hog fan. I was long before my name was etched, twice, on the sidewalks on the Hill. I will be long after Sam Pittman and Eric Mussleman are coaches, and Hunter Yuracheck is AD. I am a Hog fan when we win, when we lose and when we don't play. I love hearing the UA band play the National Anthem on game day, but I sing along to the Alma Mater.
