We need to see if we can get a mod to sticky a thread re: contacting these networks and expressing our displeasure.  Mods?  Any takers?

join me...i have boycotted "the network" since the heisman...just use the internet for your sports update, csbsportline.com, hogville, foxsports, etc.

hope ya keep up the boycott whenever the hogs play a game on there next season then... because the only way to really be true to your ban would be to do that as well... no exceptions

No, to truly be equivalent of the situation, it would be like this.  We have a 3-10 coach.  Most of us don't care if he is here or not.  Period.  If a high school, or division 2 team want him, and think he is a great catch, then by all means take him.  I'm sorry, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings in the least.

OK so if it happens for some reason that Petrino has an awful season next year and decides midseason to jump, you can't fuss... just remember that

OMG........I was sitting here in shock listening to that crap.  I couldn't believe it!!  We should flood ESPN with emails demanding he retract his comments.  That is absolutely uncalled for and should not have been said.  It is HIS opinion but when he goes on TV and tried to affect the success of a college university, he's stepped over the line.  I'm so mad right now!!!

And he should have stated "this is my opinion", by not doing so he is blatantly guilty of defamation in all 50 states and then some. 

no he's not... is he recognized as a sports commentator for the network? yes... did he say anything that might not be reasonably agreed on? Nope, Petrino has jumped lots of places, even after just signing new contracts... talking about recruits should avoid him that he'll be gone... actually most likely true if he follows the trends of his current record.

I think you're a little naive if you don't believe this will hurt recruiting.  Parents, ultimately, decide where their kids go to school, for the most part and I have to say if their choice is between TT of BP, after hearing all the negative comments this week, as a parent, I'd be inclined to go with TT. 

Really then explain Nick Sabin's success after he bolting Miami and consitantly denying interest in going back to college football, and then being crucified by the very same media then in 4 weeks assembles a top #10 recruiting class in the nation....  awaiting your answer!

I don't remember the media or ESPN, for that matter, launching an all out campaign, speaking directly to recruits via their media platform, and tell them not to go to the University of Alabama.  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Salsbury's partner in crime Clayton was just as harsh with Alabama as Salsbury was with us.    We don't remember it, generally, because we're looking for an Anti-Arkansas bias.   Clayton said, explicitly  that Nick Saban cannot be trusted, and that he  could not think of a man who should hold less credibility with parents than Saban;  how can people allow him recruit their kids in good conscience?

This is just our turn in the barrel, for making a demographically unpopular move.

I'm told Arthur Blank is the founder of Home Depot.  Home Depot sponsors ESPN gameday. Therefore, you mess with Arthur Blank, you ness with ESPN. 

I haven't thoroughly researched this, so if I'm wrong, so be it.  But that's an angle that would explain why ESPN has engaged in such negative reporting about this hiring.  Again, I could take several days to thoroughly sort this out, but all my initial research lends credence to this theory!

  Let me say this... I've met Arthur Blank a few times, and even chatted with him at training camp, he's one of the most genuine and cool NFL owners out there. He's trying to get Atlanta interested in the Falcons again, and he's been screwed not once, but twice this year.

  Those of you who have read the Mandel and Forde articles understand that Petrino has a history of doing this. He spoke with Blank many times about staying and turning things around.

  So if Blank wants to rail on him for a bit publicly, he has the right in my mind. He payed Petrino amazing money to come there, and apparently, should have known this might happen.

Petrino is a great hire for the Hogs, but Blank got hosed... and I feel for him... millionaire or not.

Maybe he should have stuck with Wade Phillips back in 2003 when he made him interim coach after getting rid of Reeves. Phillips seems to be doing fine now. Back then the media said as poor as the Falcons record is, it doesn't matter who the coach is, now suddenly this is a terrible thing. I don't feel sorry for the rich guy, sorry, but he probably brought some of this on himself.
With this being said, if we have brought the run away bride to the alter, we better be ready to be left standing alone.

So all the whining has started about Petrino from coast to coast. Arthur Blank says he feels victimized. What? You want loyalty because your such a nice man? What? Deangelo Hall and Warrick Dunn complain that Petrino abandoned the other coaches. Lol

First of all Mr. "Blank":

You fired Jim Mora Jr. two years after he took your lousy team to the playoffs. Where is the loyalty in that? I guess that makes you a coward for not sticking it out. His dad made a statement about Mike Vick (and it was true) and you took the player's side. So excuse me if i seem un sympathetic about your loss.

Warrick, Deangelo, and all the players:

Why didn't you cry for the coaches when Mora was fired? I guess you were scared of Mike Vick and that makes you a coward. The Falcons are a bunch of undisciplined thugs and Mr."Blank" keeps it that way. Petrino knew he was going to have to clean house and that was not a possibility. The only way the biggest thug "Mike Vick" was removed from the team...well we all know that one. Monday players were sporting "Free Mike Vick" apparel. yeah the players are group of high class citizens who care about winning football games.
