Quote from: Deep Shoat on Today at 04:58:40 pmDo you guys really think CNT is the problem when we have two guys we were counting on hitting 100 points or more below expectations?

Diggs showed last season that he should be driving in a ton of runs.  And the days he get's a couple of licks in, our O looks completely different.  And Wilms was a .300 hitter in the SEC last year.  No one expected him to fall off the edge of the Mendoza cliff.

I don't love the launch angle approach, but Nate has shown he can teach it.

That is the biggest thing about this year.  NO ONE could have predicted even in the most pessimistic of outlooks that Diggs, White and Wilmsmeyer would be hitting below .250 collectively with 9 HRs combined.  DVH isn't someone to sugarcoat things so I believe him when he said White was our best hitter coming into the season, but something happened.

Quote from: tophawg19 on Today at 04:11:26 pmSo you know more about an athlete's skill level than BP? got it, you were there during their meeting.

I mean, he did clarify at the end of his post what you are dbaggin about...

Quote from: DOGALUM on Today at 12:26:28 amI just don't get it. Unless he has (very recently) gone through some serious screening process that I/we don't know about.

Quote from: tophawg19 on Yesterday at 05:42:06 pmIt's frustrating to know we have all these high level players available and we don't have the NIL to compete
We spent two years grousing about it while our competition was out there hustling.

It looks like we have finally realized NIL is here to stay and the admin is out there trying to play catch up.

Northwestern transfer QB Brendan Sullivan commits to Iowa

by: Barkley Truax

QuoteSullivan visited Iowa on Tuesday, according to Hawkeye Report's Tom Kakert. He joins Cade McNamara and Marco Lainez in the Hawkeyes' quarterback room.

In 2023, Sullivan threw for 714 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions.

Sounds like a net gain for Iowa.

Quote from: bphi11ips on Today at 03:38:50 pmYour opinion is that the question is silly.  I disagree and so do others.

The point as it relates here to Gafford is that he demonstrated his intensity in college and has continued to develop in the NBA.  Everyone is the NBA and NFL have the physical tools to make it to that level.  Once they get there, the difference is sometimes the six inches between the ears.  Gafford is a good example.  Does Brazile have the burning desire to make it over the long haul or not?  So far that may be the biggest question in the minds if those whose jobs depend on picking the best future players.

What? I remember at the time people discussing Gafford's inconsistent motor

Quote from: ucahogfan on Today at 04:32:01 pmThe biggest difference is that I would think Thompson and DVH didn't expect black holes in the lineup this year where Bolton didn't hit a ton at Austin Peay before he transferred in.  I write it off to just one of those fluke years where all of the weird happens offensively.  Thompson has a long enough track record here.  The offense last year was dragged down by two guys who were in there simply for defense.  I think we get that corrected next year.

I hope you're right, but I thought it was getting corrected this year. Even before the season started, you could tell this offense was probably going to be a step down compared to previous years, especially in the power department. That has come to fruition and then some, and makes me think it doesn't quite rise to the level of fluky, but more just underachieving.

Cal had 10 starter level players on scholarship then two late pickups in Burks and Hart. Burks played little. Hart played mop up 9nky.
