What a meltdown. You win 14 games in a row with the best defense in the history of college football and you blow a double digit lead in the 4 qtr.

Sooie71923

If you blow a lead in the 4th quarter to lose the game you're a bad coach and you and your D.C. Should be fired.

Hogville told me so.

ErieHog

Totally unacceptable.  The guy obviously can't coach.

No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

You guys are ridiculous.  Are the leads in the 4th quarter a trend for the last 4 years?

Hm.  Alabama couldn't hold theirs; Clemson couldn't hold theirs;  Auburn couldn't hold theirs-- so, 3 of the last 4 national championships,  yes

Is this thread supposed to be a comparison of Bielema and Saban?
Do they even belong in the same sentence together?

Should have kept Kiffy around.  Never could put it away.  Can't let a good team hang around like that.

ghostzapper

Alabama dbs should have just tackled Clemson wrs on the last play. Would have likely forced Dabo to go for field goal.

Could you imagine the level of butthurt on here if CBB did something similar to pushing Kiffin out before the bowl game?

Bama offense looked like crap against Washington (a far inferior team to Clemson).
Bo Scarborough put that game away with his running - he may have done the same to Clemson if he hadn't gotten hurt.

Comparing a coach with a less than 50% overall win percentage, with 3 of the worse losses in program history over the last 6 games, plus a loss to Toledo at home gets to coach with 4 national championships, 5 SEC championships, 2 heisman trophy winners, 2 additional appearances in the national championship and an overall win percentage of 85%; #uncommon

Also fun fact, one coach doesn't have a buyout. #1-0

Another fun fact, one has adapted his offense and defense to modern spread football. #neveryield

It's seems to be chronic...however...for CBB.

I know Kiffin's being unprepared for Washington got him sent packing, but I think the fact that you were 13-0 with him, should have meant you chew his ass and let him finish out the season.

We wouldn't have threads.  A 'Hogville Hero' would try to shoot the HC.

I have heard this all day long....and it's wrong.  If you got your safety and corner tackling to the ground....don't you think Watson would have just run to the pylon.

He screwed himself by letting Kiffin leave. Offense was terrible.

Saban never made any adjustments during that last minute of the game. It's obvious that Clemson made adjustments just before the last drive, and Bama just stood there and looked off in the distance.

You miss the boat.  A four team playoff is a championship.  A championship produces... a champion. You seem to be looking for the "best" team.  The "best" doesn't exist. Best does not equal champion.  Best is a myth.
Opinion polls produce... opinions.

Just proves the best college head coach today sometimes will lose a game.

If Saban blows 4th quarter leads over the next 4 years at the same rate that Bielema has over the past 4 years, you might just be surprised how fast Saban's seat begins to heat up.

this was the FIRST time NS had ever given up a double digit 4th qt lead. Brit has done it a dozen or so times.

Rutgers, Ms State and LSU in 2013
Texas A&M, Missouri and Alabama in 2014
Miss State in 2015
Missouri and Va Tech in 2016

Those are just the blown leads, doesn't include the no show blowouts and home losses to Toledo and Texas Tech.

Does Saban have this track record?

A dozen or so seems like a big number. I doubt that almost fully half of CBB's losses here have been blown double digit 4th quarter leads.

It seemed like the OP was saying that we shouldn't really give coaches a hard time when they blow leads in the 4th quarter. My point was that all coaches (even one with 5 NCs) aren't immune to being on the hot seat for such lapses.
