NCAA has asked LSU to investigate whether star running back Leonard Fournette and his family received discounted services in 2014 to set up a business and a website where they planned to sell Fournette merchandise...

Fournette may indeed have violated some NCAA rules by receiving a discount based on his fame as a player. We'll see. Fournette is expected to play Saturday against Arkansas.

Who knows how serious the NCAA will take this long term.

It certainly shouldn't take it far.

A family-owned merchandise website isn't a problem. It's actually a common-sense future for college sports – which is under legal, political and, at least some believe, ethical pressure – to properly compensate its athletes, particularly high-profile ones such as Fournette...

Biggest thing Henry has going for him is he doesn't have to play against the bama defense because they'd stuff him just like they did Fournette and Collins.

Houston Nutt was too stupid to get him that many TDs in a year.  Had he then McFadden might have won the heisman over Troy smith.  He needed about 25-30 TDs to have won over Tebow.

RUNNING BACKS: A-

Leonard Fournette was good as usual with a lot of yardage after contact. No big flashy runs but two key pass receptions for 20 and 17 yards that set up LSU for 10 points. He did have one bad drop, his second of the season, trying to run before making the catch. He ran through a tackler at the 2-yard line on his late TD to ice the game and scored standing up.

He seemed to play with enthusiasm. He did look a little weary at times late in the game but he was also at his best on the late drive. Nine of his runs got LSU either a first down or a touchdown, and three of those came on the fourth-quarter scoring drive that ate up 8:05.

Fournette was also a decoy on Derrius Guice's 50-yard touchdown run on which Guice made the perfect cuts and followed his blocking well.

"I want you to know something: It's a real interesting thing — the serious overhaul of the offense," Miles said, deepening his voice when he said those last six words to make fun of the notion to a degree. "Does that include Leonard Fournette? Oh, oh, hold on, are we taking the running game from the offense?"

Probably not because Fournette, just moments before Miles made that comment, had gained 159 yards on 32 attempts to break a 38-year-old school record for rushing yards in a season as he finished the 2015 regular season with 1,741 yards. Fournette also finished the season No. 1 in the nation with 158.3 yards a game and second nationally in total yards. He will be a junior next season.

Miles was unclear on the future of offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, whose three-year contract ends early next year. Miles criticized Cameron's offense after LSU lost, 31-14, to Arkansas and, 38-17, to Ole Miss before the Texas A&M game.

"It obviously includes that," Miles said when asked if he would make staff changes. "When you have change, there is staff change."

But then he paused and said, "But sometimes there isn't. Yes. I'm not saying in any way about this year, but that would be a natural contemplation."

Miles criticized the recent play of LSU sophomore quarterback Brandon Harris, who had his worst game of the season. He completed just 7 of 21 passes for a .333 completion percentage for 83 yards with no touchdowns. He badly overthrew several open receivers.

"Some work to do there," Miles said. "At one point, he was 4 of 17, and I just want you to know, that's not good enough. OK. And I know those pass plays. Those are good pass plays. So we have to improve along those areas."

Leonard Fournette's brother [Lanard] recently showed him a YouTube video, a compilation of the big plays LSU's star sophomore running back has made this season.

"Just looking, I'm like, 'Man, I did all that?'" Fournette said Wednesday in Atlanta prior to Thursday's College Football Awards show. "It was like a dream. Everything was coming so fast."

Fournette was the big favorite to win the Heisman Trophy through October.

He was running for close to 200 yards per game and was being called the most dominant SEC running back since Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker. He was the driving force behind LSU being 7-0 and ranked No. 2 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings heading into a matchup with No. 4 Alabama in Tuscaloosa Nov. 7.

That game changed a lot, including the Heisman Trophy picture.

Tide running back Derrick Henry ran for 210 yards and three touchdowns in leading Alabama to a 30-16 win.

LSU's Leonard Fournette finishes season with rushing title

LSU's sophomore running back took home the NCAA rushing title with a 162.8 yards per game average.

Fournette is the first LSU player to ever lead the nation in rushing and the first player from the SEC to do so since Ole Miss' John "Kayo" Dottley in 1949.

While Fournette edged out Derrick Henry for the yards-per-game crown, the Alabama running back led the nation in rushing yards (2,219) compared to Fournette's 1,953.

The junior intercepted Harris for a touchdown and cashed in on a bet that earned him 100 pushups from Fournette and a steak dinner, compliments of the Heisman Trophy hopeful.
