QuotePlay-by-play by Brent Musberger, analysis by Sean Farnham, sideline reporting by Kaylee Hartung

Vanderbilt averages 10 made 3-pointers per game, which ranks 11th nationally. LaChance leads the nation in percentage (58.2) and Fisher-Davis is second in the SEC in made threes (45), behind only UK's Monk. So how will the Wildcats try to stop that barrage from beyond the arc?

"You know, it's hard to stop anybody from shooting threes. You just think about if a team wants to come down and take 22-footers," Calipari said, shrugging...

Half of UK's players would have fouled out of the Arkansas game with these refs.  So much inconsistency in the SEC.

I was coming here to post the same thing.  I watched the last few minutes and I was shocked by the discrepancy.  Second half of last game in particular, KY got to do anything they wanted under the rim.

ETA: start of the second half has a familiar feel, unfortunately...

Kentucky fans crying about the refs. I guess they forgot about last game where the refs favored them big time.

Been going to Vanderbilt BB games since 1974---no one gets more home-cooking fouls in their favor than Vanderbilt---it's a tradition...

I wondered if new Vandy coach would get the benefit of that tradition---the last couple of coaches there spent more time trying to get foul calls than coaching

Monk mouthing at Cal as he comes off the court. Classy.

Monk is definitely not Fox and Briscoe, talent-wise
I have 10 to 12 points to make per game.

He's significantly better than Briscoe, and he and Fox are going to compete to be Top 3 picks this summer.

There are an incredible amount of sour grapes about Monk in our fan base.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

They just went over the back and no call!

He will not be top 3.  Fox will!

Disagree. Briscoe is a better all around player.  Monk just shoots long jumpers. Too timid to drive becuase his ball handling isn't all that great.

KY's weaknesses have been exposed.  I'm not sure they'll have another blowout this season, except maybe against Missouri.  I think Florida will manhandle them.

There's a reason why one is a consensus lottery pick, and the other rates between 80-100 among potential NBA prospects eligible to come out this summer.

If Monk went to Arkansas the man love on this board would be over the top. But he didn't so he sucks.

We got lots of work to do.  Florida would have beat us by 20 tonight.

An 18 yr old didn't go to school where you want, and you are crying on the internet. Who's the beeyotch?

When the vandy fans were yelling over rated was it directed specifically at monk? He was shooting free throws at the time
I'd rather be dead than be a Vol

FINAL: No. 6 Kentucky 87, Vanderbilt 81.

Positive from Vandy' 87-81 loss to No. 6 Kentucky -- season-low 7 turnovers (which caught Calipari's eye)

Big "overrated" chant from the Vandy students as UK goes to the line up two. Cops lined up in front of students to prevent court storm.

QuoteNASHVILLE, Tenn. — Here's the bright side to an absolutely miserable game (until the final moments) that was hijacked by officials at Vanderbilt on Tuesday night: Kentucky basketball learned that it can win ugly. Really, really ugly at times. The Wildcats outslugged the Commodores, 87-81, in a game that featured 43 combined fouls and 56 free throws.

A whistling contest by the men in stripes — awful calls went both ways — eliminated almost all rhythm and flow, turning the game into a slog that benefitted the home team. It kept Kentucky's high-powered offense from ever fully erupting. Vanderbilt sank 13 of 17 free throws in the first half to trail by just four.

In the 3 minutes and 6 seconds Kentucky (14-2, 4-0 SEC) was actually at full strength before intermission, it raced out to a 9-0 lead. Then came the whistles. Stars De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk each had two fouls by the 16:43 mark and played just six and nine minutes, respectively, in the half.

The sixth-ranked Wildcats' coach, John Calipari, nearly screamed himself hoarse reminding players, "Don't foul! Don't foul! Don't Foul!" It was a futile request, but Kentucky got just enough from Isaiah Briscoe and Bam Adebayo in the first half, then Fox and Monk in the second half to stave off an upset.
