ARHoopScoop's Basketball Recruiting / Re: Kevin ???

Quote from: The NewEra on April 29, 2024, 09:02:30 am18-19-20 year olds making $400,000.00 a year.  You can bet they are telling other buddies on the team what they are making.  Those buddies won't keep it secret.

If a guy is only making $25-50,000.00 a year they probably aren't in a rush to share it with the world.

The crazy thing is there are some GREAT college basketball players who will never play in the nba or have short nba careers.

Some of those kids may end up making hundreds of rhousands of dollars in college - or in the right situation - a high quality senior that just isn't an NBA specimen could get a million + to help put a team over the top in college.

Point being - I really hope these kids are getting great financial advice and investing some of this money for retirement.

If a 22 year old puts $100,000 into a brokerage account and invests it in a broad market fund - and then never saves another dime - even if they never put back another dime - it'll be over $7,000,000 when they retire at age 65 (assuming average S&P type return). Even at a super conservative and meager 5% average return - it'd be over $800,000.

When I was 20 ~ I would not have been smart and done something like this if I had a big payday.

I hope somebody is helping these kids u sweat and how important it is to put money back.

IMHO, the Hogs are getting the benefit of the doubt in the rankings.  Right now, Hagen is peerless, starters 2 & 3 burn through 20+ pitches an inning because they can't find the plate, and our offense is impotent as it's really never been potent more than 2 games in a row in SEC play, it seems.  I hope no more mid-weekers will allow our hitters to get some rest and possibly recharge if burnout is creeping in.  No more easy games this year.

That's great and all, but why wait weeks?

K. Richmond is Kentucky's big emphasis to fill the role as "the guy". They will be all in financially and offering him to be the primary focus of their offense.

Uh oh, pressure on the team to win 2of3 at home to state will be high. Go 2-4 in these last 6 and top 8 could be a fantasy.

This year is going to be rough. At least HY can make the pitch he gave Pittman 5 years and the program will be in better shape than it was in 2019 when making a hire.

I don't see a Cal level hire, but I do think the pool of candidates in December may be interesting.

Could NIL be balancing things out? Only so much max money to give. Smith, Garrison got top dollar from another school, while we have already given out "max NIL" money to others.
