Any chance of Hogville switching of these horrendously slow Ad servers?

collective-media.net
and nexstardigital.com

take FOREVER to load.

and they completely reload when you switch to the next page on the same thread.

it takes better than half a minute wait each time.

I hope someone is looking at the poor service and is trying to fix it, instead of living with crap, that other sites would never put up with.

Ad servers have been so slow I finally had to abandon Windows Internet Explorer for Safari. They load much faster on Safari. I guess I am just going to go ahead and breakdown and buy an ad blocker and do away with them altogether.

Eddie, you've seen the differences between Hogville and Fearless.  Do you have any slowness issues on Fearless, anymore?  If you don't, then don't waste your money... I'm gonna do the same thing with Hogville ads that I did with Fearless.  :)

Ads on fearless were what forced me to change to Safari. Always seemed to be the top banner ad gumming up the works.

Guys... remember that the ads shown are what allows Hogville to pay its hosting bills

You think Hogville's running on a single box?  Guess again.

Please do not circumvent the ads... it's what allows Hogville to be FREE.

If the ad servers weren't slow, there would be no need to circumvent.
It's not the ads they are circumventing, but the screen pop rate.

If I bought ads from these companies that make the users mad at my company
because an ad with my company's name on it is slowing the users down,
I would be beyond livid and would probably prefer people to not even see my ad,
rather than take their disgust out on my company.

Fix the speed, or change ad companies, or expect people to circumvent the ads.
Noting that once someone circumvents the ad, even if you fix the issue, they are never
coming back. So there is a stopwatch clicking.

I really cannot believe someone would take a stance of:
it's free, so it's OK if it's inferior even to other free sites and the users should be grateful.

If you're getting pop ups, I need to know what ads are displaying on the main page.  A screen shot emailed to douglas@hogville.net works best.

Our agreement with the ad providers also means we do NOT get the following types of ads on our sites:
NO POP UPS!
No flashing ads
Nothing for (viagra, cialis, etc)
No betting sites
No dating sites
No porn
No ads that start with sounds turned on.
Any ads with sounds must be able to be muted, once activated

The list isn't exhaustive, but there are guidelines for ads that we do not want.  There are some ads that have rollovers that expand, however, as long as that doesn't break the layout, we're fine with those.

If anyone sees an ad that is one of the ones I listed above, get a screenshot or give me the name of the ad, and we'll promptly get it removed.

Sounds like a nice list, but was performance part of the contract?

If it was, I won't bother you unless it's outside of your agreement.
If you don't mind, I could send you a note when it seems to be outside
those parameters.

I haven't noticed any issues with loading ads so possibly it is just with your connection.
