The way I see it, if we win we will be the 4th seed. The 3rd place team will be the winner of the KY/FL and since we lost to both of them they will hold the tiebreaker for 3rd place.

If we lose, we will be 10-8 and in a 3 or 4-way tie with Mizzou, the loser of KY/FL and, if they win, MSU. So we would be in a 3-way tie for the 4-6 or a 4-way tie for the 4-7 seeds.

Scenarios:
1) KY, Mizzou, Ark
2) FL, Mizzou, Ark
3) KY, Mizzou, Ark, MSU
4) FL, Mizzou, Ark, MSU

The first tiebreaker in a 3+ team tie is the combined record of those teams against each other. The second tiebreaker is record vs the #1 seeded team. The third tiebreaker is a coin-toss/random draw.

Because of this it is important who the #1 see is. So if Auburn and TN both win or both lose, Auburn takes the #1 seed by virtue of the head-to-head record. If one wins and the other loses, the winner is obviously the #1 seed by virtue of overall conference record. If Auburn wins or if they both lose we have the tiebreaker over Mizzou because we were 1-1 and Mizzou lost their only matchup. If TN wins and Auburn loses, it will go to a coin toss because we both beat TN.

Scenario 1 (Kentucky loses, MSU loses):
4: KY (2-1)
5: Mizzou (2-2)
6: Ark (1-2)

Scenario 2 (FL loses, MSU loses):
4 FL (2-0)
5: AR (1-2) or Mizzou (1-2). Ark if Auburn Is #1 seed. Coin toss if TN is #1 seed.
6: AR or Mizzou

Scenario 3 (KY loses, MSU wins):
4: KY (3-1)
5: MSU (2-1)
6: Mizzou (2-3)
7: Ark (1-3)

Scenario 4 (FL loses, MSU wins):
4: FL (3-0)
5: MSU (2-1)
6: AR (1-3) or Mizzou (1-3) Ark if Auburn is #1 seed. Coin toss if TN is #1 seed..
7: AR or Mizzou

Moral of the story? Beat Mizzou.

I am pretty sure this is right. I double checked but I could have made a mistake if someone wants to check the records independently.

6: Mizzou (2-2)

so who is the four seed in all of these scenarios?  Sorry, but it's whoever he has as # 5. Basically if Arkansas loses the loser of Florida/Kentucky gets the 4 seed. Or that's what it seems to me.

I focused so much on getting all the head-to-head records (what a pain) that I overlooked something so simple.

As simply as possible for the Hogs.
Win and #4 seed
Lose and MSU lose. #6 seed

Thanks for the link.  It seems very complicated for conference seeding which everyone says doesn't make a drastic difference in NCAAT seeding.  When did we get away from simple head-to-head tiebreakers?

Dr. Starcs

It still is head to head if it's two teams. But more than two teams gets a little fuzzy.

Arkansas: Clinches the No. 4 seed with a win over Missouri. Cannot clinch the No. 5 seed, as it losses the tie breaker to Missouri. Clinches the No. 6 seed with a loss to Missouri and Mississippi State loss. Clinches the No. 7 seed with a loss and a Mississippi State win. Records against potential tie-breaker teams: Kentucky 0-1, Florida 0-1, Mississippi State 0-1, Missouri 1-0, (they play Saturday).

*Miss Stake up early at Lsu.

Shouldn't Arkansas still hold the tie breaker?  Since Arkansas/Missouri series would be tied they go based on record vs #1 team.  Missouri looks like they are 0-1 and Arkansas is 1-1.  I'm sure I'm overlooking something.

Totally baffling.

Alabama is in with 17 wins and a conference record of 8-10.

Mississippi State is not in with 21 wins and a conference record of 9-9.

At some point, total number of wins and performance in conference should matter.
