Heading into Thursday's home game against A&M, here are some reasons why the Commodores face such an uphill climb

QuoteCommodores still have not posted a three-game winning streak this season, and they have failed to post a winning record recently despite numerous chances. Since early January, Vanderbilt has reached a .500 record at 8-8, 11-11 and 12-12, and it lost the next game all three times.

Vanderbilt beats A&M in 1,000th game at Memorial Gym

QuoteVanderbilt snapped a four-game SEC home losing streak with a 72-67 win over Texas A&M Thursday night.

It was a well-timed home win, as the Commodores (13-13, 6-7 SEC) celebrated their 1,000th all-time game at Memorial Gym, which opened in 1952. Vanderbilt had not won an SEC home game since beating Auburn 80-61 on Jan. 4.

"Obviously we haven't won in a few games here, and that's been a focal point in a lot of our talks," coach Bryce Drew said. "This is our home court, and we want to protect it."

Vanderbilt improved to 780-220 all-time at Memorial Gym.

Attendance for Texas A&M at Vandy: 8,976
