They seem to have a legit team this year.

They have a center who is 7'2. Given our struggles in the paint (especially with close range jumpers), do you think we have what it takes to get past them with a W?

I've read several magazines dogging this 7 footer as being completely useless and clumsy.  He's pretty much a big tree in the way that might get a garbage bucket here and there.  Looky what i found type stuff .  He was also abused in the PAC-12 last year to the point of getting benched late in the season.  That being said, I think their back court is decent.  We'll take care of business Friday, setting up a monster matchup with McDermott and Creighton on Saturday.  Powell and Hunter better strap it on then, because it will be a dogfight!  Time to get excited about this next stretch.  It's going to be fun!

I think he's more concerned with the defensive ability, as much of our offense tends to come off driving layups and post shots, basically if this guy shuts down the block and they play good 3 point defense, it could be a close game, or even worse. Personally, I think we got this as long as Bj finds his shot between now and then.

He's 7'2 and he's playing at Arizona State.  He can't be that good.

Dogtown Donkey

They're picked to finish at the bottom or near the bottom of the Pac-12.

Their best player is their freshman PG. But.....that 7 footer is averaging 7.3 BPG and a double double. That can't go unnoticed.

Although this is a game we should win, I do agree with those that say this is the measuring stick for right now, not Creighton or Wisconsin.

HotlantaHog

Is there any TV for the game/tournament?

husker71

If Carson (PG) is playing that is the guy I want to see.  2 years ago every school was looking to get him.  He is supposed to be lightning nted him

I think we will drive the lane and get the big guy in foul trouble early.  Predict that he plays less than 20 minutes.  If I am wrong and he is a force in the lane, it might be a long night for the Hogs.

Haven't seen em play but after a mini scouting report, I think we beat ASU by double digits. Game could be close til the final 6-8 minute mark then I think we just have more gas and pull away a little.

Never been big on predicting basketball scores, but I'm gonna start a new personal trend for myself and try to keep it up all year.

I'm gonna say we beat ASU by 13. No need in even attempting to guess the actual score.

How nice would it be to have Alandise Harris for this one?!

He'd give up a lot of height but Harris would likely be the one to muscle this guy around and get him in foul trouble

They tough!!!

They "PATHETIC".  That is, if last night game showed anything.  We will beat them by 20.

Dr. Starcs

If I remember correctly sendek runs a match-up zone defense. Could give us some problems if we don't execute well, especially since we don't see a lot of those anymore.

Arizona State is pretty awful. They've been feasting on cupcakes so far, so their 3-0 record doesn't mean much. I'd be surprised if Arkansas didn't win by double digits.

These are the types of losses on selection Sunday that will be listed as "bad losses". Need to take care of middle of the road PAC 12 teams.

And I think we will.

This isn't a middle of the road PAC12 team-- this is a very bottom of the PAC 12 team.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

What channel is this game airing on?

HogFanDan

Pretty sure it's only online on ESPN3.  You'd think someone weould be ale to pick it up.

true 9 times out of 10.

Nosboar Accubond

This will be a good measuring stick for our guys. If we intend to make the dance this year we need to win these kinds of games.

SPAL

I don't think the big kid in the middle will be much of a force on offense, but if/when it slows down to a half court game, he will be big on defense. It's our first real challenge. We win by 20 if we can run , if not, it gets a lot closer

latrops

If Arkansas can play the up tempo game they prefer, then 7'2" shouldn't matter too much.  That size in the post is good in slower paced, half court games...but guys that big usually don't have the stamina and athleticism to dominate in up tempo games.  He should alter and block a few shots, but if Arkansas forces turnovers and is able to play fast, they should be fine.

Dr. Starcs

Playing a fast paced game is going to be easier said than done if asu plays that match up zone. They'll try to make it a half court game.

At least this season I feel better about our half court offense than I have in recent years.
