Tre Watson commits to Texas A&M following Kalen DeBoer departure

Aggies have just landed a quality recruit from out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. On Saturday, former Washington Huskies commit tight end Tre Watson announced that he has had a change of heart and is committing to playing for newly acquired head coach Mike Elko and the Aggies for the upcoming 2024 season.

Watson has been with Fresno State since the 2021 season.

Top-100 LB Elijah Barnes sets pair of in-state visits

Around 30 Power Five schools have already offered Dallas Skyline four-star linebacker Elijah Barnes.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder is one of the top defensive prospects in the 2025 class. Barnes has had a local flavor to his recruitment thus far — and that's set to continue across the next two weeks.

On3's Gerry Hamilton reported on Monday that Barnes is set to visit Texas (Jan. 20) and Texas A&M (Jan. 27) to round out the first month of the new year.

Alabama, Florida State, Oklahoma and Oregon are other programs near the top for Barnes, the No. 84 overall prospect and No. 13 LB...

Alabama CB transfer Ricks visiting LSU, Texas A&M

Alabama cornerback Dezz Ricks will take visits to LSU and Texas A&M, he told Zach Blostein of Noles247. Ricks officially entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday and is leaving Tuscaloosa after just one season with the program.

Ricks was originally a member of the 2024 class but reclassified before committing to Alabama. He wound up playing in two games as a true freshman but according to his official roster page, both were on special teams.

LSU was considered the runner-up for Ricks during his high school recruitment. Now, the Tigers will have another shot at landing him, with there still being four years of eligibility remaining. Texas A&M will have a say in the matter as well, with Ricks likely not leaving the SEC.

Ricks played high school football at IMG Academy, where he was a five-star prospect, but is originally from Chesapeake, VA. He was the No. 18 overall recruit

Bama cornerback Ricks commits to transfer to A&M

Crimson Tide cornerback Dezz Ricks has committed to transfer to the Aggies.

The 2023 season was the only one that Ricks spent with Alabama. He acted as a reserve and learned behind a veteran secondary. He did get some playing time against Kentucky and Chattanooga.

A Virginia native, Dezz Ricks played high school football at IMG Academy (FL), where he was a five-star.

They're ground zero for new-age college football roster building, and all of the ugly, unintended consequences that go with it.

And a microcosm of "no good NCAA deed goes unpunished."

The unprecedented 2022 Texas A&M recruiting class — the class that launched the NCAA's master plan of name, image and likeness into the nasty and sometimes nefarious sea of high school recruiting — is a shell of its former elite self.

The 2022 class should be the core of a roster poised for a Playoff run, or — while sandwiched between elite classes — should have already played in college football's championship tournament.

Instead, the 30-player class that 247Sports proclaimed the greatest in the history of its composite ranking has led to this:

— A 12-13 overall record, including 6-10 in the SEC.
— A 7-12 record vs. Power 5 opponents, and 3-7 vs. ranked teams.
— A fired coach (Jimbo) with $70 million-plus in walkaway money.

More importantly — and more tellingly to the state of the NCAA's now 3-year-old grand plan of player empowerment — the class has been decimated by players leaving for the transfer portal. Of the 18 players signed in 2022 who were ranked in the top 100 of the 247Sports composite, 9 are no longer on the roster.

A&M adds to 2024 class with Tennessee OT, former Duke pledge

A&M has added a new pledge to its 2024 recruiting class.

After being committed to play for Mike Elko at Duke, Robert Bourdon has decided to play for Elko's new program. The offensive lineman from Tennessee made the announcement Monday night

In the transfer portal era, new coaches often mean new-look rosters. Elko's first team is full of new faces.

Elko's staff has 14 prospects out of high school, with 9 already enrolled. The Aggies have been busy in the transfer portal, bringing in 23 new players.

Though many prospects end their recruitment with December's Early Signing Period, there is still February's National Signing Day. Bourdon gives the Aggies two unsigned commitments. The other unsigned pledge is 5-star ATH Terry Bussey, who committed to the Aggies before the coaching change and is taking visits before making a final decision.

Four-star linebacker Kelvion Riggins of Forney (TX) High announced his commitment to A&M Friday night.

6-foot, 210 pounder chose the Aggies over Georgia and Tennessee.

He's the No. 138 overall player and the No. 11 safety in the country for the class of 2025.

Pettaway attends Paetow High in Katy. He's listed at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds. Pettaway has not yet made his official visit to College Station.

A&M now has 3 commitments in the class of 2025. Pettaway is the second 4-star prospect to commit to the Aggies this week, joining linebacker Kelvion Riggins. Texas A&M also has a pledge from 3-star offensive lineman Joshua Moses.

DeSoto (Texas) RB Deondrae Riden committed to Texas A&M on Monday night, electing to stay in-state to pick the Aggies. Both Texas A&M and Texas got the On300 running back and two-time state champion on campus last month along with Baylor. SMU and USC were also in the mix for the sought-after back.

Asked about his decision to pledge early to the Aggies:

"Elko, Elko, Elko ... he's one of the best coaches in the game and everything he's doing for the program is putting people on notice," Riden told On3 on his commitment to Texas A&M.

"I promise you he will change the program around."

Top TE Kiotti Armstrong sets official visit to A&M

Jasper (Texas) four-star tight end Kiotti Armstrong set a pair of spring visits to Texas A&M earlier this week. Before making those trips back to College Station, the top-100 prospect has also decided to lock in an official visit with the Aggies.

Armstrong announced on Wednesday that he'll take his OV to A&M from June 13-15.



That's now scheduled to follow trips on March 30 and April 6. Mike Elko and the new Aggies staff continue to make the 6-foot-5, 245-pounder a priority.

WR Taz Williams Jr. locks in Texas A&M official visit

Red Oak (Texas) four-star wide receiver Taz Williams Jr. has a busy spring on tap, and his summer is shaping up the same way.

Last month, Williams told On3 he has visits locked in to Texas A&M (March 26), Alabama (April 1), Michigan (April 7), Ohio State (April , and Texas (April 20).

Those trips are in addition to official visits scheduled to USC on May 17

QB Antwann Hill locks in visits to Florida, Memphis and Texas A&M

Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County four-star quarterback Antwann Hill was a one-time Colorado commitment, but back on Nov. 26, he backed off that pledge and opened his recruitment back up.

6-foot-4.5, 215-pound gunslinger tripped to Florida and Georgia Tech earlier this year. He is in regular communication with both program, but the Gators and Yellow Jackets have competition.

Memphis and A&M are on Hill's list and he has lined up visits to both. Hill will be in College Station on March 22-23.

BREAKING: 2025 4-Star DL Landon Rink has committed to Texas A&M



Boom! On Wednesday morning, Texas A&M landed a critical commitment from 2025 4-star defensive lineman Landon Rink. The incoming senior from Cypress, Texas, has now become the Aggies' fifth commit in the program's 2025 recruiting class.

On tape, Rink is an absolute game-wrecker at the high school level, possessing the speed, power, and versatility needed to excel at the next level. Elko and new defensive coordinator Jay Bateman likely already have a plan on how he'll be utilized within A&M's defensive scheme.

Standing at 6-2 and 270 pounds, Rink consistently dominated the defensive interior during his 2023 junior season, racking up 70 tackles, 15 sacks, 30 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and two forced fumbles. Whether this type of production can translate to the next level is to be seen, but knowing that Rink is surrounded by one of the best coaching staff in terms of development is certainly a plus.

According to 247Sports, Rink is currently Texas's 65th-ranked defensive lineman and 100th-ranked player. Landon Rink is set to take his official visit to College Station on June 13.

Rylon Dillard-Allen locks in official visit to A&M

After logging a "great experience" at Texas A&M, Phoenix Mountain Pointe four-star safety Rylon Dillard-Allen tells On3's Chad Simmons he'll return to College Station for an official visit with the Aggies on June 14.

The SEC program now joins Arizona State (April 19), Nebraska (April 26), UCLA (May 17), Washington (May 31), Kansas (June 7) and USC (June 21) as schools set to welcome the 6-foot, 165-pounder back to campus.

Dillard-Allen is the No. 533 overall prospect and No. 39 safety in the 2025 cycle. On3 ranks Dillard-Allen higher than other recruiting services.

Aggies have landed three commitments this month. Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair three-star defensive lineman Landon Rink kicked things off on April 3 by choosing the in-state program. Over the weekend, a pair of major prospects joined the fold in Denton (Texas) Ryan four-star offensive lineman Marcus Garcia and Corona (Calif.) Centennial four-star quarterback Husan Longstreet.

Prosper (Texas) three-star interior offensive lineman Connor Carty has committed to A&M.

"I think that they are moving that program in the right direction for sure!" Carty said in February.

Carty is the nation's No. 407 overall prospect, No. 34 interior offensive lineman and No. 66 recruit from Texas in the 2025 cycle.

April 14 was a good day for Texas A&M, picking up Corona (Calif.) Centennial four-star quarterback Husan Longstreet and Denton (Texas) Ryan four-star IOL Marcus Garcia.
