One Way Rental Car in California

I need a three day rental from SF to Santa Barbara. The prices are ridiculous. I realize the rental market is more expensive but $150 bucks a day is crazy. You can get one for about $50/day and pay $.25 a mile and a drop off fee. Anyone have suggestions for something better?

Pickup and drop off at the airports is a lot higher. Use intown locations if possible. We just booked a full size for a week for 250 plus drop off. LA pickup  and a SP drop off.
