team in all contests is theoretically the best way to go.  But I have always had a hard time with this and I have officially decided to become a "darksider" in this respect.  I can no longer do it.  For all SEC teams except the Hogs (esp Tenn and Bama ) I will routinely and with great fervor root against them. And get great plesaure when they lose.  Good deal.  I feel better about watching Tenn and UCLA.

The_Boot_stops_here

i totally agree....i cannot and will not root for the vols, ole piss, or auburn....wouldnt mind if they all lost every game they played

Im with yall. I refuse to root for Tenner, Aubbie or Ole Piss. Lanie Poo has ran his mouth too much. Aubbie is a no brainer. Ole Piss can return to my favor when Nutt leaves or is fired.
Every time I see a grown man in a backwards hat I want to b***h slap Trooper Taylor.

I agree. I can't stand Tenner.

Tennessee and Auburn for sure, unless they're playing USC-W or Notre Dame.

In general, I'm a "root for the SEC guy."  This rule has 5 notable exceptions:

Ole Piss football
Tenner fooball
LSU football
Kentucky Basketball
LSU Baseball

May those teams lose every game they ever play.

no lsu for me.  my hatred for them runs as deep as my love for the hogs.

UT is going to regret hiring that buffoon. Obviously the SEC isn't as good as we thought with big losses to OSU and UCLA. It's Florida and Bama and then everyone else.

I am pretty close to this list myself.  I will add Kentucky football on the list as well.

I believe we now have a coach that will let us compete with all SEC teams.  Maybe we are not a threat this year, but we will be.  Therefore, all losses to other SEC teams is good for us.  I dislike them in varying degrees, but basically don't like any SEC team except Arkansas.  Hell, I can see why people outside the SEC hate so many of the teams.  But it sure is nice being a part of this conference!  It felt almost as good as a Hog win to see the look on Kiffikins face!

I went to scool with a UT grad and he was a very nice guy, but a Vol fan.  I wished bad things upon him and his team.

I love the SEC and always pull for them in out of conference games, with the exception of UT and Ole Miss. I cannot AND will not pull for those two schools. I would even pull for Notre Dame or Ohio State if they were playing the Vols or Nutt.
I'd rather be dead than be a Vol

oldbear

I just pulled out my laptop and was feeling bad about rooting against an SEC team against the likes of UCLA.  My justification was that it didn't matter who I pulled for because it had no impact on the game.  Even with that, it feels better knowing that I was not the only one that could not pull for Kiffie and the boys.

A.K.A.

I wouldn't want our conference to look like one of the lower tier conferences. Certaintly wouldn't want Arkansas losing out on national championship because our strength of schedule was poor because ole miss, auburn and alabama lost all their games except to each other.

Thats just petty hate getting in the way of Arkansas in the long run. Its one thing to hate the fans because of the trash talking etc you were on the receiving end at one time, but to hate a team at the expense of Arkansas is going too far.

I'm all for the SEC winning every game except to Arkansas, which means Arkansas going undefeated in the SEC to a bunch of other teams winning most their games and making Arkansas look like one of the greatest teams ever.

I have always been a conference guy.  The better the teams in the conference do, the better it reflects on the SEC.  But I do have to admit that I LOVED SEEING UCLA BEAT TENNESSEE TODAY!!!!!

They are all the enemy.

Every single one of them. From Bummer down to Misstake.

They are all the enemy, and nothing but the enemy all the time.

I wish them all nothing but disappointment and heartbreak.

I wish them yellow flags on long kick returns for apparent touchdowns.

I wish them holding calls in their own end zones.

I wish them recruiting scandals and out-of-control boosters who make very bad headlines.

May they all burn forever and ever and ever more, amen.

And I mean it, too.

obh

P.S. I grew up like this, feeling icy cold prickles in my chest for every single old SWC team, except for Texas, for whom I felt and still feel flaming hot flashes and searing stabs of pure hate.

So it was very, very, very easy to merely transfer the ill-will to the SEC.

And it's only gotten ever more deep and rich and complex as the years have passed, like a fine whiskey aging in a charred white oak barrel.

Burn, baby, burn....

I root for the SEC in OOC games....although I had a real hard time rooting for Old Piss last year in the Cotton Bowl.  However, I will say that I do have a large amount of dislike for most SEC teams, and pure hatred for others.  Just about the only team that I even halfway like is Auburn, and that's just b/c I've been there twice and they have extremely classy fans.
Go Hogs, Beat Refs!

Hornkiller

I don't get the conference pride thing. Yes I get the whole when the conference does well it reflects well on the Hogs. Yes I get the SEC chant rubbing salt in the wound of not only the team you beat but all the other teams in their conference as well.

But despite 3 straight national titles I've never seen the National Championship Trophy on the Hill. I've never seen an SEC national championship t-shirt or bumper sticker. They didn't say Arkansas beat LSU so they must be the best 8-5 team in the country. They said we were an 8-5 team (that didn't show up for our bowl) I mean we lost to some good teams last year, but 5-7 is still 5-7 no matter what conference you play in. It's not like their saying "wow, that was the best 5-7 team in the country." Even if they did it be like winning a modeling contest at a fat farm. Still not a pretty site.

Now before you all start hitting the smite button, yes I realize that the SEC success has translated to a great TV package that gives the hogs plenty of coverage. But still, a football national title would be epic even if the SEC wasn't all that for a year. I'll take the trophy and the T-shirt over conference bragging rights any day of the week.  Not to mention the fact that we'd have Gator, Tiger and Tide fans chanting SEC in our honor for once.

Agreed.  I root against Tennessee and Ole Miss always.  I sometimes root against LSU as well.

This list is pretty good, but I have to ADD Florida to that list and two words explain it.....Tim Tebow.

Even when watching a game that Florida is not playing....they are comparing other QB's and schools' offenses to Florida and Tebow......

HE DOES NOT WALK ON WATER.  Announcers - Quit hyping this guy up with every breath you take.  Take off the goofy #15 colored glasses.  Every single game it seems (especially with the SEC network...which by the way it was great to watch so much football today) they mention this guy.  Sad thing is, he's probably a nice guy, but ESPiN's man-crushes just make me dislike the team....ala Tyler Hansbrough.

So ADD FLORIDA/Univ. of Tebow to the list.  Yuk.  Even my wife who doesn't watch a lot of football noted how much they talk about him.

Oh and I despise LSWho in EVERYTHING.  If they had a checker's team (which would give their rowdy fans one more excuse to drink and tailgate), I would root against them too.

The simple thing is, no matter how much we root against our SEC brethren, they will ultimately win and the SEC will still be tops.  Which is still fine by me.

Another team, I don't like....the Richmond Spiders....I just hate spiders....that's all.

spiritof92

The only SEC team I pull for other than the Hogs is Vandy.  I just have a soft spot in my heart for underdogs.

WarEagle

I always root for whatever will help Auburn.

If it doesn't affect Auburn one way or the other, I root against Bama.  I have a hard time cheering for Tenn and Florida, but I generally root for the rest of the SEC in OOC games.

I have family members that have gone to several of the other SEC schools and usually like for them to do well (brother is at Arkansas now, cousins who went to Ole Miss and South Carolina and an uncle who went to UGA).
I have descended into college football's Grand Canyon.  I have stood in its Alps.  I have gazed at its ocean sunset.  I have attended a game at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama and I've been changed forever. ~ Bud Poliquin

I hate ole piss. I would root for texass or usc(west) before ole piss.

Hawg Balling

With the grand exception of Ole Miss, I root for all SEC schools in football.  I have to hold my nose and root for Tennessee, Auburn, and South Carolina, but I actually like rooting for football doormats like Vanderbilt and Kentucky, even more so if the stars align and they go to a bowl game like they did last year.  Dominance in nonconference play helps the image of the SEC, especially now that ESPN tries to play up the "who's the strongest conference" argument every year.  I think it's pretty cool that when Florida and LSU were taking a knee for their national titles, the crowds were repping the SEC.

oklahogjr

i root for the sec when they play outta confrence.....its what makes the sec great is that we all pull for for each other out of confrence
lets go bowlin

El Puerco

My two favorite teams are Arkansas and whoever is playing Ole Miss. I can't wish enough misfortune on them

Ther perfect nightmare scenario....Ole Miss playing Texas.

No one to cheer for.

Probably would just mow the grass. Or have a root canal.

Nope, I'd have to cheer for Texas.  After the game I'd have to take 3 showers to scrub off all the shame, and then go to church, but I'd cheer for Tejas for those 4 quarters.

ErieHog

Alabama football
LSU Baseball
Florida Basketball

Other than that, I'm generally a pro-SEC guy.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

DeltaBoy

I root for all the sec teams till they play Ark or if them winning would hurt the hogs.

This has been the case for me since I attended school at Louisiana Tech.  However, I now have a couple of good LSU friends and I actually rooted for LSU against Texass in the Baseball NC this year.  Now I'm dealing with an identity crisis.

There is also Ole Miss and Houston Nutt to root against.  Other than that I don't feel all that strongly about other SEC teams.  I did find myself rooting for UCLA last Saturday.....   Strange.
