DVH opens his presser by telling everyone that Bobby Wernes and Tyler Spoon will likely sign with their respective MLB clubs.

DVH said it's "50-50" on whether LHP Jacob Schlesener would come to Arkansas or sign professionally. He was a 12th-round pick.

DVH: We didn't have enough pitching. If we won that last game, I don't know who we would have started.

DVH: We feel really good about the 2016 (recruiting) class. It's going to be one of the best in the country.

"I really want to win a national championship and we are working as hard as we can to make sure we have all the pieces to do it," - DVH

DVH: Shaddy will play more outfield next year. (Arkansas will need to replace all three outfielders next year.)

"I think Bonfield will be on a mission to have a better season next year." - DVH

Van Horn says he doesn't expect Brett McAfee to play anymore at Arkansas.

Among the players who won't be back next season are Brett McAfee, Blake Wiggins, Jonah Patten and Nathan Rodriguez.

"Tony Vitello is a relentless recruiter and that's why I hired him. We are getting better talent in here." - DVH

DVH: When (Jackson) comes in this fall, we're going to give him a chance to start. We just can't have him at 100 pitches through 5 innings.

DVH, on Taccolini: He's meeting with a specialist. I think he's going to need surgery, but he should be able to pitch in the spring.

"I think I'm good with the new ball. If you hit it good you have a shot to hit it out. I think it's made the game a lot better." - DVH

Terrible news on McAfee. I wonder what he is going to do.

why is he leaving? He played a ton and had potential to be a solid hitter IMO.

man, that sucks!!  With Wernes leaving it would have worked out great to slide him in at SS and let Bernal move to third and have such an experienced and veteran infield to make up for the loss of the 3 OF's.

After watching the uncut interview I'm optimistic that our recruiting will maintain at a high level and give DVH more chances in Omaha.
Dave confirmed that he would like to win the CWS.

didnt appear they were doing much recruiting to get him to stay hearing him in the press conference..

Wow - i just was able to watch this.  It really seems like DVH was dissapointed with Nathan Rodriguez and Jonah Patten and the type of guys they were.  That is dissapointing.  You could tell he still thought Rodriguez was a super talented player.

With McAfee and Wernes leaving, it seems like Wiggins would have a spot if he stayed.  That is strange that he is leaving.  It was obvious DVH wasn't excited about that decision

Nathan is a super talent. I can understand his disappointment.

He never said that.

He never said that.

No he didn't.  He did mention there were multiple guys they recruited for a couple of years who they found out they weren't the kind of guy they wanted around once they got to campus.  He did not say who it was and I made the inference myself - which is why I said "it seems".

Its probably good to have it doubly clarified though with a statement like that, so thanks...

You don't hold a spot for someone you don't want around so probably best not to speculate unless you know ALL of the facts.  Thanks for clarifying though.

There have been only a few players that DVH has talked about like he did NRod.  Hopefully he can get it together and make some money playing baseball.

Dvh does not like having to make offers to kids in 9th & 10th grade. As he said you don't know what they are made of and people will not tell you.

He did say that a couple of guys who were committed for a couple of years, did not fit in

I think we can do the math & figure out who he is talking about

Fit is a 2 way street which is why you see more transfers at the Freshman level.  But, the original poster called out two kids by name which is admittedly speculation on their part... all math and inferences aside.   I think it's time to move on, best of luck to all the current and former Hogs.

Nathan was a big disappointment

Thank goodness Coach DVH clarified he wants to win a national championship.  I was kind of worried about that burning question.

I appreciate DVH's honesty and straightforward way of running our program.

I like it.  Not a lot of coach speak and blowing smoke
