what decision or comment or action by John L. Smith do you consider the most bone headed during his one year stint (blessed by Jeff Long), to be the worst and most obvious blunder ?    I say SMITH'S decision to Redshirt a great young lineman named Darius Philon. We only got two years out of this ultra-talented young man. Redshirting Philon has to be the worst coaching decision ever made by Coach Smiley. Basically its like jumping in the sack with Scarlett Johannson midway through a hot sex scene, it was great but the wasted time could have made the experience much better.

I think talking to the media was the worst decision he did.  He should have done a "no comment" to every question and went home.

Hey he was told to show up, stay out of the way, anyone ask him anything just garble a little coach speak and hurry away as if going to an important meeting.  Unfortunately, he didn't prep for that and then the durn QB got hurt and people had all kinds of questions.  He forgot where he was, who was paying him, what team he worked for.
