Hope they arent as good as Toledo
That will be year 7, an obvious attempt to improve our strength of schedule statistic as we will be an absolute powerhouse at that point.
Will I live long enough to see us win again? Will any of us?

Just copying what Udub did to make the playoffs....

HawgTrough

Toledo and La Tech were just too much to ask for this staff. Good looking out Jeff Long

You are right, the path has been exposed, year 2-3, year 7, what the heck is the difference. :) :)

scorekeeper

Anything for six wins and a bowl game...even Portland St
If winning isn't everything, why do they keep score?

DiamondHogFan

Don't you know Penn St is regretting playing Pitt this year?  They could have easily scheduled a much weaker opponent for that week and would most likely be in the CFP instead of #5.

So is this the replacement for Michigan?
No, it is the replacement for the date we were to play Michigan.  I believe we were already going to play this team, they just moved it to week 1.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes. Had trouble finding P5 school's with openings.

Edited: Hogs still looking for P5 opponent. Maybe some date shuffling going on & this will open the door for an announcement sometime soon.

Uh, no......we still have to get a FBS opponent for 2018-2019.

A Power 5 opponent, not just FBS.

Unless we get a waiver from the SEC, but yes, P5, brain fart....

I don't understand why we don't do what Alabama and LSU have been doing, play at a neutral site and get a big check. Bama just agreed to play Duke in 2019 in Atlanta, LSU plays BYU in Houston next year.

I wish we had Bama's  2018 schedule-
Louisville in Orlando and Arkansas State, Citdel, ULL in Bama

Every SEC school schedules a FCS school, we're fine with our schedule.

Yes, and considering we probably would have lost to Michigan something like 55-10, thank goodness.

Maybe they should have played well enough to beat Pitt.  Four other teams did.

They've been looking into doing that in 2020.  That plus the A&M game would be some nice money.

The matchup with Baylor in Houston went to Ole Miss, I'm not sure how hard we are trying again for one.

Maybe it is just me, but I would like to get involved in one of these games.  Lots of exposure and money and since they are on Labor Day weekend it would be an easier trip.

Pitt is a solid squad. Trying to get out of jeff long crap.  I was in a bar in da burgh when they beat clemson.
Let's make some waves.

Its probably for the best that we wont be playing Michigan. The year after next Harbaugh will likely have them firing to full potential and have a few top recruiting classes under his belt. If would very likely be another embarrassing curb stomping by an OOC opponent on national TV to kick off the season. I don't particularly want to watch another USC style beat down.

This game doesn't replace the Michigan game, you can still hold out for your national curb stomping.

Jeff "hogfanintx" Anderson

Wont matter. By then the Bert rebuild should be complete. The hogs will steamroll everyone they play.  Heck the nfl teams will all be lucky they dont have the Hogs on their schedule.
Let's make some waves.

As my broken record has repeated before, the only team that benefits from this scheduling is Portland St. We couldn't find a Tulsa, North Texas, or Troy level opponent that at least has a couple of players that might play in the SEC?

Playing teams that can't even give you a game for one quarter does nothing to help this soft team. But it seems like we're going to schedule subdivision opponents every year BB is here. Weak (and I'd say that no matter the coach).

This is also a team that beat Washington State in 2015.
