I'm glad someone got a technical called on them.  While my buddies and I sat there and watched the first half, we saw SEVERAL, not just one or two, calls that we questionable at the least.  The phantom foul against Townes or Thomas or whoever that was on when Thomas got his a$$ fouled off and still made the shot, the fould on the lay up where Modica tried to reach in and slap the ball away, are just two examples.  I was hoping for a chair to be tossed across the court or at least a little spit to get on a refs face from Stan yelling at him so hard.  But Cool Hand Stan keep his composure and pretty much just grabbed his bald head.  Not my way, but I was impressed with him keeping it together.
As far as Townes' technical foul, I remember watching a Gonzaga game (I can't remember who they were playing, but I think it was Memphis) where porn-stache Morrison got up in some one's face.  I can guarantee you that he didn't say "there ya go."  Nothing was called, but the refs did have to come in and seperate the two players.  The officials were not SEC officials.  Had they been, the two players would have been thrown from the game.  SEC officials tend to want to make an impact on the game.  I can't stand that.  Let the players play.  Yes, there will be some talking, but only when it gets vulgar or to the point of being offensive to a TV viewing audience (anger or taunting), should their be a technical called.  Just my opinion.
I pretty much agree w/ everything JFen said here
Everybody in every leage says "Our league has the worst officials" but I truly think we do have the worst out of all the major conferences. Has anyone kept count of how many heads of officiating we've had in the past 5 years? I think it's at least 3 but I don't know.

Love your signature!!  "There ya go, Bradshaw!" could be our new battle-cry!!  How motivating would it be for our guys to hear a house-full screaming that in Atlanta!!

What aggravated me happened a few minutes later.  Ronnie Brewer thought the ref called it on him.  Ronnie asked what he got T'd up for, and the ref said "I'm sorry, are you number 5?"  No reason to be a dick about it.  Just tell Ronnie that it wasn't on him.

Ronnie should have said, "No motherfricker, I'm the best player in this league, recognize, biatch!"

there's a difference between acting like a jack ass and showing emotion.

taunting the opposition is acting like  a jackass.

agreed,
after that technical Tennessee pulled away so I have to believe it fired up TN more than us. @ least for a while. Great win though! beat msu!!

It wasn't the words that were said, but the tone with which they were said.  And, that "T" did not ignite the Hogs as some posts here imply.  The Vols went on a serious run to close the half, and in the first 12 minutes of the second half the Hogs continued to get into a hole (down by 13 or so).

This happened with Townes on the bench. When he got back on the floor he had something to prove.........and he DID.

I don't know if this has been talked about here but the words were.... "THERE YA GO BRADSHAW".

That doesn't seem to be that bad to me.

No, it isn't. But then again, the refs are in bed with UT in EVERY sport. So don't be surprised.

Before we go patting the officials on the back, remember they screwed us out of two points. That was pretty shifty if you ask me. The technical I can live with.

Big O and todd day talked trash all the time ,, as long as we can back it up , then i say go for it.  Heath should have been the one to get the T.  He is gonna have to learn to get in the refs a$$ on a shiite call like that . I believe the team would respond like townes did for himself.

hog caller

townes got the foul, ball was on the glass when the ref called it and the basket should have counted. i don't like trash talking by anyone but i think Daqmian redeemed himself pretty well.

Keep your chin up Damian, it will help keep your mouth closed.

i have seen allot more go on than what he said to get that T.  bottom line is those officials were horrible, and that call turned the whole game around.  officials should not make a call like that unless it is absolutely necessary. and for all you who are bitchin telling him to not talk trash, this team needs some damn fire. try counting the technicals we have gotten in the last 5 years.  yeah he could have lost us the game, but that fire he was playing with ended up winning it for us.  nice job dtownes be a mean son of a bitch the rest of the year!

smack talking is not showing emotion.  it is selfish, me attitude.  how about if townes would have told brewer nice play now let us d-up.  how about if we celebrate with each other and encourage each other instead if smack talking they other team.

you can be tough and show emotion with out talking.  i don't remember moncrief having to talk smack.  speaking of todd day, remember he pushed larry johnson and ran as fast a he could. i don't think he was that tough.  and we didn't back up any talk that day.

you act like he does it habitualy. there is trash talking in every game that goes on maybe other than curling.  all i am saying is that there are a lot more serious things that go overlooked then him calling a guys name after he gets dunked on.  big deal.  yeah maybe he shouldn't talk darn but grandpa it happens all the time, and if he needs to do it to get him going, i say just don't get caught.

obviously you aren't very good at it, because if it can get you off your game than it works as team advantage. Perhaps Bradshaw doesn't shoot all those threes that brick if he wasn't trying to prove something to Townes with their little verbal war, maybe it had nothing to do with it, but little mental advantages can help.

Ask Michael Jordan and Larry Bird their opinions on smack talk and they will agree!!

I'm happy that someone showed enough emotion to get a technical. Everybody has been complaining that Townes looked disinterested. Well, he was interested against Tennessee.

Also, does anyone know how much trash Dane Bradshaw talks? He's one of the dirtiest, scrappiest players in the league. You just never see it because he's real subtle like John Stockton and Bruce Bowen. He also talks a lot of trash like Scotty Thurman. You had no idea what Scotty was saying on the floor unless you were sitting on the first 1 or 2 rows. He was real subtle in his trash-talking, whispering things to other players.

Dane Bradshaw is a Ron Artest kind of player. He's very unpredictable and does things like elbowing you in the back on a rebound or giving you a forearm while running back downcourt and the refs never see it. They only see your response. I'm sure Townes had been the recipient of at least one of those shots during the game.
