For a freshman - McCurdy is progressing nicely - seems to be getting comfortable out there.

I have to say that the motion offense is beginning to mature. I realize that the competition is lower than what we will be facing soon, but at least we're looking for the right passes. I'm impressed with our improvement.

And defense is very solid. To hold any team under 40 like we did Friday night is quite an achievement.

You're regressing.

Where's the "Bacon Out"? ;)

rocknhog

Dykes keeps saying he's worried we haven't played a true road game. Isn't this virtually the same team as last year? Shouldn't be much surprise there.

I have to agree

We should worry about road games when we're actually on the road.....

The "road" will be here sooner than we want.....I, for one, am only concerned about the game we are playing.

Okay.

We are over-committing on the steals. Sort of doing that "before it even happens" move on defense and getting burned for it. Good SEC teams will eat that crap up so we need to be tighter on defense with our hands up more.

The offense is still unselfish as it has been all season so far, and I like how everyone on the perimeter is looking down low twice and passing it around. That always creates open looks and we're hitting a good portion of the shots just from breaking down the zone. We are somewhat too unselfesh with that extra pass and of course in a zone that's not always a good combination.

We will loosen up more and work the ball inside more and make them stop us. McCurdy is showing so much promise and Townes as well and Ronnie is being himself again.
Suddenly, you die in a car wreck. Everyone is shocked. Wonder how your family, wife or son/daughter is coping? Now stop for a second and think, did they truly know how much you loved them? Well, go make sure...

WindyCityHog

Overcommitting on the steals?

Heath would be well-advised to take a page from Nolan.

The Hogs look much better in an open-court game....and I'm a basketball idiot.

FGM-A 3PM-A FTM-A
14-25 4-10    9-13

Outrebounded 17-15

Think this is close

rocknhog

can only recall 4 or 5 turnovers on our part

WindyCityHog

Thanks rockn...

Outrebounded though?

Another Nolan example....

Okay but a run and gun team that's actually good and us doing that equals a small lead right now instead of a 14 point lead. I like the killer instinct the defense has been showing this year but it has to be a controled chaos, like, the Spurs defense. Agressive and persistant just tone down the arms reaching for a ball. In another game we could be getting called for these reaches so we need to control it better.

Bacon-When did we run motion? I thought they were in zone the entire first half. I was getting some supper for a minute or two so I could have missed it.

I think he's referring more to ball movement.  We've quit settling for 3's against the zone and getting the ball inside more

Would be nice if we led the SEC in free throw pct this year. Not sure if that's ever happened and will keep us in most every game.

They were in man to man quite a bit - they opened the second half in it as well.

Townes with a putback.  Hogs up 43-27

Beautiful play by Brewer.  Used the left hand on a drive.

Thomas to Townes was phenomenal - these guys are getting in sync on the fast breaks better than I've seen all year.

50-29 hogs, 17:50 left.   Good start by the hogs

I thought i was going to be nervous that they were both so far down the floor on a missed bucket. But when they showed the replay and Townes was basically on the defensive block just shows the hustle. GREAT PLAY

rocknhog

Hey Hey. Second half rebounding hogs 5-0

hogfankb

Great possesion. Great ball movement against the zone. Finding open areas. Great offensive rebounding. Make your free throws though.

2nd half adjustments....

I always thought Heath was weak in this area.

I think he has grown in this area...Last year, I always cringed when it came to the 2nd half.

Lanny...jump on the bandwagon.

sofullofwayne

Who thinks we could reach 90 points?

Maybe 80?

It would be nice to be feeling it on the court going into MSU.

Good call on Ronnie, I know a lot might feel different but it was.

Like I said good persistant pressure, we started putting our hands up and defending any jumpshot and making them pass a lot.

Between the SEC looking weak this year overall and the Hogs playing well, I'm feeling better about my prediction of 12-4 in conference play.
Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.

Beautiful basketball Arkansas.

Keep that up.

McCurdy showed true fundementals.

Arkansas good passing, points off turnovers always change momentum in a heartbeat.

STEVEN HUNTER PUT IN DOWN BIG MAN! He is playing awesome defense as well.
