I got into a conversation with a guy in line at McDonalds. The conversation ended with that the service men/women are looked on different than they where, from the Vietnam era. Lets not make this a Politics thread, but make it a tribute to all that served.

"The Forgotten War" because of the lack of public attention it received.

Memorial Day is a time to remember the fallen heroes throughout our nation's history "who gave the last full measure of devotion" to their nation. Mere words cannot capture the enormity of their sacrifice or the anguish of loved ones they left behind.

Honor those who serve today.

On this Memorial Day remember and pray for our troops who are in harm's way today. And pray for their families and loved ones as they endure the hardship and uncertainty of deployment.

Copied from Free Republic.

CT, as always you bring so many good posts and so much information I can't thank you enough. I'd like to give props to my long gone papaw who served in WWI. I still have his metal helmet, the thing must weigh 10 pounds. I still have all his medals, one in particular that was issued from his time fighting in France.

My Dad is a Korean vet and we  lost a cousin in Vietnam. May you RIP. I also have buried some vets who came back from Vietnam but never made it all the way home. I'd like to say to those loved ones "You are home now, we love you."

For all who serve, stay safe.

H&D

Bless all who serve this Memorial Day.

I won't go all the way back.

Bless my:
Great Grandfather, Veteran of WWI and WWII

Grand Father, Veteran of Korea.

Several Uncles, Veterans of Vietnam and Desert Storm.

My Dad, Veteran of Desert Storm, Operation Southern Watch, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and a couple of places few people even knew we were there.

My brother, Operation Enduring Freedom

My small contribution, Operation Southern Watch and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

I have relatives serving, going back to the Scottish First War of Independence.

James Zulpo, WWI, James Fiori, WWII, and Bobby Sabatini, 'Nam, all left Tontitown to fight for their country and didn't return home alive. They make all us wops proud.

Hope ya'll all have a good and safe holiday.
