Aside from ESPN, for some stupid reason has BAMA as a lock and us on the bubble still even though we got the magic 20 and and they only have 17 wins, and very few quality wins.

I'm perplexed by the Alabama love fest as well.  Our overall record is better.  We split Head to Head, but had a grant chance to sweep them.  They have one more conference win than us, that's it.  And we are probably playing better ball than them right now.

It's not really perplexing that they are a lock.  They have a VERY high SOS, and one more conference win.  You  can't say we're playing better ball than them right now.  And even though you said we had a great chance to sweep them, you can also say they had a great chance to sweep us.

The only perplexing thing is why we AREN'T a lock...but no reason to compare us to Bama, who is also a lock.

So their SOS is higher, you give them our SOS and at best they have the same record, at best.  I'm not arguing that Bama shouldn't go just that they shouldn't be the lock and us the bubble team.

I don't think we are on the bubble anymore. Bama has a better RPI than us. I expect they're in too.

What really surprises me is the way ESPN is pimping the MVC.  They had a long segment on gameday this morning about how that conference could get 4 or even 5 teams in.

It used to be that a mid-major would need to go 26-2 to even get considered for an at-large.  MoState, Creighton, and SIU don't have exceptionally gaudy overall records.  They are just a very balanced conference at the top with 4 stinkers at the bottom.  Since you play everyone twice, that gives the top teams a chance to get 8 wins with no problem, you split the rest of the games and you are 13-5.  To quote my mentor Michael Gary Scott, BFD.

Not exactly "bracketology", but a great place to compare touney teams is "The Nitty-Gritty Report" at warrennolan.com

It's on their "homepage", you don't have to advance to the basketball section.

This report gives you the RPI rundown---and for every team gives you home, road, non-conf & conference W-L, vs top 50, vs-51-100, vs 101 -200 & vs 201+. As well as the very important "Last 10."

Also, it has color-codes for teams that are conf-leaders, "in trouble," "locks'"(?), etc. Highlights those with good or bad road records, vs top 50, etc. A good place to see a lot of the factors the Selection Committee will be looking at.

This site also has it's own "bracket." All these things update almost daily.
