Mathis was a running back at BYU till he and some teammates were accused of rape by an underage girl.  He was suspended for a year and not welcomed back.  Supposedly transferred to Arkansas after his case was dismissed not too long ago.

Mathis is from Richardson, Texas.  He is a small, speedy back who was all-state in 5-A as a kick returner.  Claimed to run faster than 4.4.  Arkansas offered him in high school, was the only high major besides BYU to offer.

so if he was enrolled, he would be eligible for the '05 season?

I believe in second chances, but I don't want them taken with our program.  I know the charges were dismissed, but you know, O.J. got off too. ;)

Yeah and Michael Jackson will probably get off too. And we all KNOW he is guilty.

Why was this moved to the vent?

Because the post was no longer Razorback Sports related and just turned into the "Every African American Male Is Guilty" theme.

you can be talking about a black shirt and it be turned into a racist comments these days...

Rocky&Boarwinkle

I sure didn't mean to convey that either.  My original comment was about somebody being probably guilty, but having the charges dropped.  I just don't like athletes that "appear" to have a criminal element about them.  I'm sure we don't know the whole story one way or the other.  I am all for second chances.  I just prefer to let the Bliss and Tarkanians of the world do it.  Our university we support has enough problems without bringing more in the door.
