What did catch MY eye was that only Hunter, Cal, Mars and a board member new that an agreement was almost done. Makes you wonder where the leak came from...

Hunter's burner Twitter?

Last I checked, December 18th wasn't in the middle of January, but maybe check my math on that.

https://razorbackswire.usatoday.com/2024/05/06/danny-salli-transfers-to-arkansas-from-byu-college-football/

May 6th, is when he joined Arkansas. Last I checked, May 6th does not occur in the month of March. But again, feel free to correct my math on whether May 6th occurs in March or not.

December, January, February, March, April, May. My math is a little rusty, so perhaps you can count that for me. That sounds like 6 to me.

Lastly, I don't know BYU's policy on whether he is still getting access to facilities once he hits the portal. He did not in fact, hit the portal in March as you allude to, but late in the evening of April 30th.

Also, glad to see you agree that he did in fact receive coaching, weight training, access to facilities, and did in fact take quite a few snaps for BYU in his time there.

Them's the facts. It may feel like he was only there for three months, it may 'feel' like he only counts as a CC players, but those feeelings of yours ignore the cold hard facts that he was at a Big 12 school for 6 calendar months and receiving the benefits as that relates to football for quite some time.

Your rubric of only counting a player if they appear in a game is inconsistent as you cry about how many transfer outs we had, many of whom were here for years and never played in a game.

That's because you're dumb Benny kid enrolled January 15 that's the day he gets to campus. He's at home until that day so no BYU anything he home in Kansas.

https://247sports.com/player/danny-saili-46128230/

April 30th enters the portal means he is not part of the team at BYU no access to team anything and more than likely not on campus anymore he at home in Kansas.

Facts > Feelings

I listened to the first 35 minutes or so of Kevin's Hogville video yesterday, but wasn't able to finish.

What was the update on Joe Johnson potentially joining the staff?

I would love to have both Pryor and Hawkins, but know that we wouldn't get both, and are leading/likely/maybe already have signed Pryor. However, I would probably prefer Hawkins' proven ability in the BIG 10, over Pryor's numbers in the AAC. I worry about Pryor's physicality in the SEC.

Quote from: go hogues on May 10, 2024, 12:56:58 pmWhat, The United States, post-1783?

It's just free market capitalism. Why is it ardently defended at every turn - except in college sports?

This has nothing to do with the merits or flaws of capitalism. That's
apples/oranges.

College sports was originally intended to be purely amateur. To be a nurturing, insulated environment for young adults. Coaches were more than demanding pros, they were mentors.

That may not have ever been 100% true, but it used to be mostly true.

It was deliberately meant to be separated from any dispute over economic systems.

Now it's just the very worst of NFL lite. For instead of adults clawing for dollars, it's children. Instead of learning the values of teamwork, it's now every man for himself.

Everything good about amateur sport has been replaced by greed.

Isn't there already an entire thread dedicated to guessing the next AUCs?

Ordinarily I would agree.  But the way we have been finishing the season three years in a row now, reputation starts to work against you as it used to work for you on your way up building the program.  Besides our fold last year, we lost the series to Ole Miss, then the first game of the SEC series....ten games ago I would have said we were close to being one of the top 8....now, we would really be lucky to host a regional, and part of that is because of Bogle and gate.  But I wouldn't be surprised if we miss out also.
