Some time back my mouse pad on my Toshiba laptop stopped working. Since then I've been using a wireless mouse.

The other day I noticed that when "waking up " my PC and during the login process (Win8) the mouse pad works. Once it logs it stops.

Any ideas?

My Dad's Toshiba does the same thing.

maybe in the settings? I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 and even though the mouse pad on it works I never use it. I use a wireless mouse simply because it is easier.

Glad i'm not the only one seeing this. If it's a setting issue, what setting?

Don't get me to lying. I use my desktop when I am home. Only use my laptop on road trips and since I have a wireless mouse I never fool with going into my mouse pad settings on the laptop.

Wow, dude. Thanks. It was in settings. Somehow it became un-enabled (is that a word?).  I enabled it, now it works fine.

Disabled tends to be the word, and yeah, laptops can be super finicky about when they want components to work.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

Glad my advice helped but I was really just guessing on the problem. I am not all that computer literate for the most part.

Sometimes, it's not the solution that you get, but the suggestion of what road to take. Thanks

Yeah, I just had a brain fart, and couldn't remember the right prefix.
