Television has killed attendance across the country... I understand it helps recruiting and saves $, but numbers suffer. Top notch programs sell out regardless.. Everyone loves a winner but still would rather watch it on one of 6 stations 4/5 nights a week

Its a trade off for the average to decent programs that get on tv a lot, but are don't have elite fan support. They still need to sell tickets to the games, and have fans there to pump up the team. I know a lot of guys who used to go to hog games who now just watch them all on tv.  You get exposure for recruits and your casual fans who can't attend games, but lose some of your old "in the arena" fan base as well.

Smaller vunues seem to be the ticket these days.
