Got the plane back from annual today. We had some stuff that it really needed, and some elective work done as well.

All new main wiring (copper and larger) from the battery to the starter, the alternator, and the main buss (if that's what it's called)... the starter spins the engine 50% faster, the lights are much brighter. Amazing the difference.

New noise filter. Zero radio noise now.

New exhaust gaskets, had a significant leak on one cylinder.

New torque link bushings installed, and shimmy dampener rebuilt. Along with a tad of extra air pressure in the nose wheel, the shimmy is completely gone.

Six new Lord cowl mounts. Needed them bad.

Both fuel sump drain valves replaced, weren't leaking, just rusty.

Two wing air ducts, crazy expensive... $225 each.

New air filter, oil change, tires "rotated," etc....

$4,500

I see we have a 2013 annual thread.

Jeff, please merge if you want...

It always seems expensive, but where did the bulk of that $4500 go?
It ain't dieing I'm talking about Woodrow,,,, It's living!

Being a pilot isn't all seat-of-the-pants flying and glory. It's self- discipline, practice, study, analysis and preparation. It's precision. If you can't keep the gauges where you want them with everything free and easy, how can you keep them there when everything goes wrong?

My latest repair job is getting pretty closer to silver by the day, and still don't have it flying.
