I think he has a high floor, sort of like Ronnie Brewer in that he may not be a star, but he has attributes that correlate with a long career as a journeyman or rotation player.

I follow the NBA more than most in Arkansas and I have not heard a lot of buzz about Portis good or bad. There are a lot of good players this year and Portis is more likely to fall out of the lottery into the 15-20 range than he is to jump up into the top 10, at least based on what I'm reading.

Just curious, but who are are following that you aren't hearing/seeing/reading any positive buzz on Portis? I'm constantly seeing positive things about him by NBA writers. I do agree that he's more than likely in that 15-20 range, but I feel like he has a pretty fair chance to slide into the late lottery. I could see Utah or Phoenix taking him, depending on who else is available. I also think he'll have a much better and longer NBA career than Ronnie Brewer. I feel like he's done well for himself in the workout process so far in that he's solidified his place as a prime pick just outside of the lottery. He could have slide to the 20-30 range had he not impressed in workouts.

He's never been a consensus Top 10 pick, and never would be;  his draft ceiling is right in that 10-20 range, depending on camp performance.

Returning wouldn't change that.  Going wouldn't change that.  The only thing that really moves that needle, is the depth of the draft class.
No cause, ever, in the history of all mankind, has produced more cold-blooded tyrants, more slaughtered innocents, and more orphans than socialism with power. It surpassed, exponentially, all other systems of production in turning out the dead. The bodies are all around us. And here is the problem: No one talks about them. No one honors them. No one does penance for them. No one has committed suicide for having been an apologist for those who did this to them. No one pays for them. No one is hunted down to account for them. It is exactly what Solzhenitsyn foresaw in The Gulag Archipelago: "No, no one would have to answer. No one would be looked into." Until that happens, there is no "after socialism."

In my opinion if Detroit passes on him, the Jazz will take him at #12.
