While we're waiting for a lineup and the game to get started, a little bit about this opponent.
Memphis is currently 4-3 on the year, with wins over FIU, Georgetown (x2), and Utah State. Their losses are to FIU (x2, one was a run rule, one was extra innings), and Boise State. Looks like a fairly diverse roster in terms of experience, with a decent blend of upper and lower classmen. Not sure who plays. Last year, they were just under .500 overall, 26-31, and 7-11 in the AAC. This is their first game this weekend (they play KY today and tomorrow, and FAU tomorrow), so I expect us to see Molly Smith in the circle. She is (evidently) their best P. Or maybe they'll save her for Kentucky, who is on paper better than we are. Should know soon.

Go Hogs!

Lineup is a bit different, with Moll pitching.

Canfield - CF
Hiers - C
Schroeder - RF
Cooper - LF
Diaz - 1b
Warrick - DP
Belans - SS
Yannetti - 2b
Russell - 3b

Moll in the circle.

Molly Smith is indeed pitching for Memphis.

T1 (we're away)

Canfield lines out to CF.
Hiers grounds out to SS.
Schroeder hits a 2b off the wall in LF - almost out of the yard.
Their pitcher has a very nice off speed pitch.
Cooper grounds out to 1b.

Top of the lineup due up for the Tigers.

B1

Moll plunks the batter on the head. Doesn't seem to faze her at all. 2 strike pitch. Argh.
1 on, no out.
Hiers throws out the runner trying to steal (yay!). Throw was to wrong side of bag but there in plenty of time. 1 out, no one on.
And Moll plunks another one. Jeez.
Next hitter singles past 2b, runners at 1-2, 1 out.
Needless to say, Moll is having trouble with control so far.
She walks the bases loaded, 1 out, Deifel out to talk to her.
Moll gets the next one with a K on a silly change up. 2 outs, bases loaded.
But then she throws a WP, runner scores from 3rd, others advance.
Next batter pops out to shallow RF - but Memphis takes the lead 1-0.
Hopefully that's the extent of Moll's troubles today, and she'll settle after the first inning.

Due up for the Hogs - Diaz, Warrick, and Belans.

T2
Diaz tattoos a line drive past the SS into CF on the first pitch, she's at 1b.
Warrick hits a no doubt, as-soon-as-it-left-the-bat HR to LF. Might have made it to Port St. Lucie. 2-1 Hogs.
No outs, bases empty for Belans.
Belans blasts one to the fence, but it's caught by CF on a nice running play, 1 out.
Pitching change for Memphis - they're bringing in another RHP, Wisher. Sophomore from TN.
Yannetti K's on a check swing.
Russell turns the lineup over with a single to 3b. She's quick!
Canfield singles past the 1b, Russell makes it to 3b. 2 outs, runners at corners for Hiers.
Hiers squares to bunt, takes, Canfield steals 2b.
Hiers walks on a WP, she's on first, Canfield goes to 3b. Runners on the corners for Schroeder, 2 outs.
P throws another WP, Hiers to 2b, Canfield scores. 4-1  :razorback:
Schroeder works a full count from being down 1-2, but then watches strike 3.

Hogs come back to take the 4-1 lead.
Due up for Memphis: 7-8-9

B2

Moll gets first out on a grounder to 2b.
Next batter grounds to 1b, unassisted.
9 hitter works a full count, then she doubles to RF. Top of the order up for Memphis, runner on 2nd, 2 outs.
Leadoff hitter grounds out.
They must have called another illegal pitch on the last out, because pbp now shows that the leadoff hitter for Memphis reached on an error by Yannetti, runner scored from second.

4-2 Hogs now.

Moll gets the third out on a K.

Better stuff from Moll - and yet another unearned run on the infield miscue. :-(

Due up in T3: Cooper, Diaz, Warrick.

T3

Cooper works a walk.
Diaz singles to LF, Cooper makes it to 3b. Diaz advances to 2b on the throw to 3b. Runners on 2nd/3rd, no outs for Warrick.
Warrick pops out to 3b, 1 down.
Belans bunts. Cooper out at home (was this a squeeze?), Diaz to 3rd, Belans makes it all the way to 2b.
Yannetti walks to load bases.
Russell pops out to 3b. A lot happened there for basically nothing.

To the B3, Hogs up 4-2.

Due up for Memphis: 3-4-5.

B3

3 hitter grounds out to 3b.
4 hitter walks.
WP moves runner to 2b.
That's enough for Coach Deifel - Warrick on to P for Moll. Schroeder to DP, Bugarin to RF. (I think)
Warrick's first two pitches are balls, runners at 1/2, 1 out for the 6 hitter.
Next batter hits into FC. We get an out. The pbp is completely messed up, so I'm not sure where the runners are or what the situation is, but there are two outs.
Next batter also hit into FC. No damage.

Due up: top of the Hog order.

T5

Cooper, not having a banner day, grounds out to 2b. 1 down.
Diaz flies out to LF.
Warrick works a full count, then walks. 1 on, 2 out for Belans.
Belans grounds out to SS.

Due up for Memphis: 2-3-4. Warrick still in the circle.
:razorback: still up 4-2.

psycHOGlogist

B5

Warrick gets the 2 hitter looking, 1 down.
3 hitter grounds out.
Warrick gets the 3rd out on a comebacker.

Due up for the Hogs: Yannetti, Russell, Canfield.

psycHOGlogist

T6

Yannetti flies out to CF.
Russell does, too. 2 down.
And to be consistent, so does Canfield. Our offense has gone into the deep freeze.

Due up for Memphis:5-6-7.

psycHOGlogist

B6

Memphis sends up PH for the 5 hitter.
The pbp froze up there, but Warrick got 3 up, 3 down, all on groundouts.

Headed to T7 looking for some insurance.

Due up: Hiers, Schroeder, Cooper.

psycHOGlogist

T7

Hiers walks on 4 pitches.
Schroeder singles thru left side, 2 on, no outs. Bugarin runs for Schroeder.
Pitcher throws 0-2 pitch four feet over catcher, runners advance.
Cooper works it to 2-2, but whiffs at a change-up.
1 out, runners at 2/3 for Diaz, who pops out to 2b on first pitch.
Warrick up, 2 out.
Warrick pops out to shallow LF.

Okay, last half for the defense. Warrick due to face 8-9-1.

psycHOGlogist

B7
Warrick makes a great play on a bouncer through the middle, maybe saves a hit, gets runner at first. 1 down.
Warrick K's the next hitter on 3 pitches. 2 down.
Last out comes on an easy grounder to Yannetti.

:razorback: WIN 4-2!

Really, really nice job in the circle by Warrick, coming in to clean up Moll's struggles. That's something we just didn't have last year.

Would like to see our offense click a little better - it wasn't too impressive today, even though we got the two wins.

We play FAMU tomorrow morning, pretty early, since it's also a travel day - 8 am Arkansas time.

WPS!!  :razorback: :razorback: :razorback:
