Why Vandy is the only SEC team without a televised spring game, again. http://tnne.ws/2FUEINL

QuoteVanderbilt football will be the only SEC team without a televised spring football game, just as it was last year.

Why is that? Because Commodores coach Derek Mason prefers a spring showcase rather than a spring game. And the ESPN family of networks will only be airing traditional spring games.

According to ESPN's programming guide, 13 of the 14 SEC schools will play their spring games on ESPN, ESPNU or SEC Network. Vanderbilt is the only one left out.

Florida coach Dan Mullen announced, via a release, the first two Florida spring practices will be open to the public
https://trib.al/0CVYgaD

Quote"We are going to give you a football team, I promise you, that you can be proud of both on the field on Saturdays and in the community,'' Mullen said late last month, per the release. "Our guys are working their tail off right now to live up to what we know the 'Gator Standard' is."

Spring practice will end with Florida's annual spring game, which is free. The game is set for April 14 at 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. central).

There's no way to sugarcoat #Vols potentially losing Trey Smith for any period of time. Heard from some NFL personnel that he could have been drafted this year if the league allowed one-and-dones. He's that good.

What happened on the first day of Auburn's spring practice?

Here are a few observations: https://trib.al/APpqdkj

QuoteAuburn opened spring practice on Thursday afternoon, and media was granted a 30-minute viewing window into the first day of practice, which provided an early look at the Tigers' first- and second-team units on both sides of the ball.

Below are some observation's from the viewing period:

-- Jarrett Stidham was out at practice and working with the quarterbacks but not throwing. The Tigers' starting quarterback was off to the side practicing footwork while other quarterbacks warmed up. During the pace period, Stidham shadowed the offense from behind the play while Malik Willis, Joey Gatewood and Devin Adams ran the offense.

-- Auburn's first-team offensive line consisted of Prince Tega Wanogho Jr. at left tackle, Marquel Harrell at left guard, Kaleb Kim at center, Mike Horton at right guard and Calvin Ashley at right tackle.

-- Joining those five with the first-team offense during pace was Willis at quarterback, Kam Martin at running back, Chandler Cox at H-back, and Ryan Davis, Nate Craig-Myers and Darius Slayton at receiver.

-- Freshman Asa Martin also rotated in at running back with the first-team unit during this period.

Finally, my favorite part of spring games is attendance numbers. I'm not sure you really know - there some turnstile numbers to use as a guide, but mostly I think schools estimate. So UF reports 53,015 around 4 p.m. That night, FSU reports 53,974. :)
