Quote from: mindemon on Today at 05:16:55 pmOkay. I think I will take you up on that. The offense scored 56 points on WCU, 28 on Kent Sate, 31 on BYU, even though we lost, 31 on LSU. After that, the offense started showing some issues, but still not enough to result in the firing of Enos in my opinion,  we scored 22 on Texas AM. It wasn't until week eight, when we scored 7 points on Miss. State that it became such a disaster that Enos needed to be fired, and that is what Sam did.

If you watch the games up until week eight, the offense was good some games and not so good other games, but it didn't rise to the level of firing our new OC, who is a well established coordinator. Just be because there are some issues with an offense in some games after a new coordinator is hired does not mean you send the guy packing right away. Sam was giving Enos a chance to fix it. He didn't and he was let go. Before game eight, I don't see a 'I have to fire this guy now' offensive performance. More like a 'You need to get the offense better. This isn't cutting it' type of performance.

That is my opinion anyway.

I agree with the main points, but below are some nitpicks such as how many points the offense actually scored.

We didn't even score 28 on Kent. The offense only scored 21. The offense was scoreless the first 28 minutes almost. We barely made 300 yards.

BYU we didn't score 31, offense only scored 24 points, and didn't score nearly the last 27 minutes.

LSU was good movement and mostly food scoring. Two 4th and goal fgs though, so bad red zone.

Aggies, out offense only scored 15 including a garbage time td.

OM was 20 points but two bad turnovers, and 36 rushing yards on 29 carries...

Bama game was pretty good. We didn't have a lot of yards, but we were efficient with our scoring opportunities. If Green doesn't get injured...

Below quote from UK board after it was posted Arkansas is front runner for Johnelle Davis. Hell who knows if we really get him at this point but the twist and turns on that board is comedy  ;D

"Davis may be good, but does he fit the culture we are trying to build? Did I hear that he wanted guaranteed shots? That's not what we need a 1 year merc that wants a lot of money and shots. Arkansas can have him."

Quote from: Iwastherein1969 on Today at 06:10:39 pmThis is the same type of thinking which got all the Hog BBall fans fired up about Muss. Little did we realize that rushing to fill the roster  might cause problems with levels of talent and the ability to work together. Muss is like the fast kid on an Easter Egg hunt, he darts here, there and everywhere not realizing that the adults really hid the eggs quite well.

Forget about muss's great tenure here? I'm alright with a different approach but come on

So one game justifies firing a guy? See it was an accumulation of issues and Sam needed to use a scalpel (thanks Benny) but he didn't. So eventually he had to use a chainsaw.

In my opinion he doesn't deserve praise for that. I was a big supporter of the Enos hiring. Musk was about the only one who wasn't. But a series of decisions by Sam destined this to be a bad hire.

The bright side is due to all of these screw ups by Sam should coz him to leave CBP alone. Or that is the best we can hope for.

Good chat.

Quote from: Deep Shoat on Today at 06:07:58 pmDon't give up on Liam McNeely.  Hearing we are likely getting a visit soon.

And since he didn't commit to UConn yet, that can't be a bad thing.
That would be great!!

We were naive to believe that college football players weren't getting bought & paid for back then,

Has he been extended yet? Or, did we just leave his contract as is?

Depends what month we get hot. June would be idyllic.
