If they are actually underwriting the auto insurance product versus it just being white-labeled for them, then Tesla is about to increase their losses to an even higher amount.  There is just no feasible way they can compete with the vast amounts of data and segmentation that drives auto insurance pricing nowadays.

And if they are planning to offset the lack of insurance pricing sophistication/segmentation with lower repair costs/part delivery for their own insurance product, then they will lose on the back end.

I assume an actual auto insurance carrier is allowing Tesla to white-label this product, or else I think Tesla is going down yet another "loss leader" path.
