Wally tweeted after the aTm game that the Hogs had clinched a double bye in the tournament.

Can anyone substantiate this?

He is correct. We also control our own destiny to grab the #2/#3 seed (means we would avoid UK until the final). Win 2 more games and we clinch the #2 seed

Not sure if it is a statistical lock yet.  Kentucky is in.  Arkansas could lose three games and finish 12/6 in the conference.  A&M and Ole Miss could win out and be 13/5 in the conference.  Arkansas would be in that scenario.  However, if LSU beats Ole Miss, then there is a possibility of:

A&M 13/5
Arkansas 12/6
Ole Miss 12/6
LSU 12/6

Then, we would have to look at the tie-breakers.

(Georgia could also finish 12/6, but we beat them in our only matchup and I'm not giving them much of a shot against Kentucky).

In this scenario, we would be the #4 seed. A&M the #2 seed.

#3 seed (3 team tiebreaker uses record against the 3 tied teams):
LSU 3-0
Ark 1-2
Miss 1-3

LSU gets the #3 seed

#4 seed between us and Ole Miss:
1) Head to head - tied 1-1
2)W-L against #1 seed through #14....both 0-1 vs UK, both 1-0 vs A&M, us 0-1 vs LSU, Miss 0-2 vs LSU

By Ole Miss having a worse record against #3 seed LSU, we get the #4 seed.

In case of a 4-way tie (A&M finishing 12-6 also), the only other possible scenario, we would be the #3 seed after all the tiebreakers

So...Wally was right

All we have to do is win one more ga mn e to clinch the 2 seed. After Ole Miss lost last night that gave up a 2 game lead for 2nd and we also own the tie breaker over both A&M and Ole Miss

We spilt with Ole Miss 1-1, so we don't own the tiebreaker with them

Having the double bye would be huge. Let our guys rest while the other teams have to play. Gotta like our chances of going to the championship if we are on the other side of the bracket of UK
Let's call those hogs!!!!

Tournament history shows that the early rounds tend to let teams get on a roll instead of them just tiring out.  There was absolutely no reason Arkansas should have lost to South Carolina last year.  The 2014 tournament was one of the rare instances when the top 2 seeds actually made it through to the finals.

Playing 4 games in 4 days is probably not advantageous if you have to turn around and travel and play as early as Thursday at 12 noon (or for some SEC teams potentially in Dayton on Tuesday.) ...

The Arkansas team with Joe Johnson won the SEC Tourney in 4 days, then turned around and played the next Friday night (vs Miami I think) and seemed like they were out of energy.

Yep.  We did look tired against Miami, but that SEC Tournament was awesome.

BadHog

The last time we won this thing in 2000, we played four games. Resting is over-rated.

It sure seems that with our style of play, having a team play one or possibly two days in a row before playing would be advantageous to us winning.

Not correct. This was discussed in another thread. Even though the Hogs split with Ole Miss they do indeed own the tie breaker over the Rebels.
